While I think a Mike Grell or Tim Truman style would be a more obvious fit than my cartoony stuff, I would at the least have a great time with it!

It would be fun to adapt Hiero's Journey into comic form. Hiero is a psychic Canadian* Metis** priest 5000 years in the future who rides a moose*** and becomes friends with a bear. He fights mutant animals**** and bald white dudes.

*um, actually, it's Kandan

A page from Wrestling and Mania. Tina's sitting on the couch and Ellie is straddling Tina's legs to sit on her lap and look at her.
Ellie says, "Just be patient... our next step will reveal itself soon..."
Tina says, "Be patient? Ellie, you're the most impatient person I know!"
Ellie says, "What I'm impatient for has nothing to do with that dumb case... just stop thinking about it and the answer will make itself known."
Tina says, "I'm dubious about this zen master shit but what the hell - come here."
She grabs Ellie's hair and they're about to start making out. The phone rings. Tina says, "It's Thomas!" Ellie says, "...that was faster than I expected."

A page from Smooth Moves.
Val and Tori walk into Don's guest house, where his dopey adult son Ron is sitting on the bed in his underwear.
Val says, "What's up, Ron?"
Ron says, "Whoa, this is just like a dream I had last night."
Tori says, "Hey champ, I'm Tori... Val and I are gonna need you to take the couch. We need the bed on account of we're a couple of old ladies."
Ron says, "Are you... girlfriends?"
Tori says, "I never know quite where I stand with Val, honestly... but this is where I'll be sleeping with her... help me with these sheets, bud."
Tori says, "Get those in the laundry and then come grab some boxes... say, did you ever think you'd wake up and discover you've got-"
Ron says, "-two new stepmoms?"

Ellie has just come home and she and Tina are talking. Ellie's shoulder is bandaged.
Ellie says, "Hey, it was nice to see Kevin!"
Tina says, "Yeah... what's up with your shoulder?"
Ellie starts unwrapping the bandage and says, "Oh, I went and got my tattoo fixed."
Tina says, "'Fixed?' Ellie, you didn't have to do that-"
Ellie continues to unwrap the bandage. We see a framed photo of Tina and Ellie in which Tina is wearing her Ribbon Cutter suit, which has a pair of scissors as the emblem on the chest. Ellie says, "You know how I got a tattoo of your scissors logo from your superhero suit because you literally saved my life?"
Tina says, "I remember."
Ellie is done talking off the bandage. She says, "And you said you felt weird because I was putting you on a pedestal and you wished I'd gotten a tattoo that represented both of us instead."
Tina says, "...I shouldn't have said anything."
Ellie says, "...so I went back and got them to update it! What do you think?"
Tina laughs, "Ha ha! Oh my god, Ellie!"
We see the tattoo, and the scissors logo is now two scissors logos... scissoring."

A page from No Raccoons in Hell.
In 1997, Tori and Val walk through different areas. A scruffy residential neighborhood, a downtown shopping district, and a park.
Tori talks as they walk:
"Val, I just want to say that even though your sex drive is completely bonkers, I know I can keep you satisfied. These last few months have been like living in a porno! At first, I was sore in muscles I didn't even know I had, but now I'm like some kind of sex athlete or something... and I love you, Val! It would be a dream come true if we would be an exclusive couple... unless... I don't know... that's lame?"

I'm not trying to steal any lesbian valor, but it seems like if you're celebrating Lesbian Visibility Week you might like some of my comics. Here are some excerpts.

I have an older car and have never driven an internet device with wheels, but I also wonder if some sensor in those is making people scared to pull all the way into parking spaces, up to parking deck gates, etc... there seems to be a lot more of that too.

The intersections with stoplights around Duke University now have "stop here" added to the lines where you're supposed to stop at a red light, and I've almost been hit several times recently when waiting at a light to turn left by people turning right and cutting across my lane.

Last night's Danny Brown show was great.
1. Ain't it Funny into Scaring the Hoes
2. He performed inside a square and I love me a shape on stage
3. Inspiring to see a man fairly close to me in age (he's 6 years younger) with an eight pack
4. He called the audience cutie patooties

...not that it would be funnier with more steps.

I like the drawing in the first panel a lot though.

So:

1. learn how your retirement account works if you're lucky enough to have one

2. this is a clumsy joke, not because it is about a niche subject, but because it addressed the subject in a way that made assumptions that people would follow my chain of thought when I elided a few steps...

2/ I had a couple people tell me they didn't get the punchline on this one, and I don't usually explain jokes, but in this case something prompted me to tell them it was because retirement accounts are often invested in the stock market, which is gambling.

Guess how much federal corporate income tax they paid.

That's right: $0.00

I'm starting to think that at least a little bit of what I had ascribed to the distracted driving epidemic is due to the facts that many drivers don't even know what the lines on the road mean

You’re right! That was me saying, “I have characters, I have little people” and being proud of myself. I also knew that I was going to broaden Thomas’ character by making him the Ribbon Cutter, and I thought it was funny to have him complain about how he was the most boring guy in the office, when I actually had plans to make him the most outlandish. You don’t have to catch that when you read it, but that was a joke for me.

SPOILERS IN THE IMAGE for Meeting Comics #6. Craig Fischer brought up this comic when he interviewed me for The Comics Journal and I talked about how I had future plans for the comic which tied thematically into this one.

This was one of the first comics where I thought of the space the characters were in. It's just a room with 2 doors but I did enjoy figuring out how to visually set this up for the joke to work.
