What I came here to say, but I was delayed screenshoting the street view. Been there a few years.

The question of whether Gilchrist really wanted this office looks different if one adopts the language of "calling" (vocation). It's entirely normal for the process of discerning and accepting one's calling to be other than straightforward.
How can it be helpful to just have those numbers floating out there with no way for anyone to assess their accuracy or significance? With no information about the methodology used to produce them? They have as much analytical rigor as a "kick me" sign would.
When AAG Dhillon reports seemingly large numbers of problems found in voter lists shared with her office, she's trying to make the case for why other states should do the same. But in fact, it points the other way. Sharing your list with her is asking to have context-free big numbers released.
Exactly. Or as I said, facially. Compared with the letters where they said their "basis and purpose" (as though the two were one and the same) was to go fishing, or the letter where they didn't even make any mention of a basis, this is a huge step forward.
It looks like the DOJ is learning from their mistakes; this time the demand letter at least facially states both a basis and a purpose.
But he smirked!
I am happy to say that my self esteem was not actually riding on this, but thanks, anyway, for your efforts.
The precinct level turnouts use a different denominator and so are not directly comparable, but yes, aiming to pull it up is a great goal statistical niceties aside.
“We need to look at the people who have been here for years, and years, and years. And decide are they people that we want to stay here? Do we give them full citizenship? Or do we say ‘yeah you know, there’s a different level of citizenship for different kinds of people? Do they get to vote? Do you pay taxes?’ I think anyone who lives here as a person who’s living in our country needs to be a taxpayer.”
Minnesota GOP Senate Candidate Michele Tafoya's phrase "a different level of citizenship for different kinds of people" is perfectly calibrated to give the ick to members of both major parties. www.thegatewaypundit.com/2026/04/minn...
The company was founded in 1912 but didn't make the square Sport bar until 1932 according to their website. www.ritter-sport.com/en/history
I knew from experience that it was around then and indeed seemed to have been long established even then. I now looked at their web site and find it dates to 1932.
Does anyone know how to get BlueSky timestamps to the second rather than only the minute? I can't tell whether @pistachiopistachio.bsky.social or I suggested it first.

Take 2024's 76.35% participation, with 9.05% of voters registering or updating, so 6.9% of the eligible. About half were just updating. So only about about a 3.5 percentage point drop if those new registrants were excluded. Some would have registered in advance if EDR were nixed.
Supporters of Minnesota's election-day registration and those who consider it corrupt both give it credit (or blame) for our nation-leading voter participation. Yes, but it accounts for at most a few percentage points. Without it, we'd still be in the top half-dozen states.
True, but also why are we going to all these contortions to compare 1984 with recent elections when those recent elections all had comparisons of machine counts with hand counts of the same ballots? See the Post Election Review, done every two years since 2006, and the various recounts.
Yes, it is.
Regarding the "in November" part, a general point to keep in mind is that depending on how many candidates file, it may be necessary to vote in August as well as November. We'll know after June 4th, when the withdrawal period ends. (Filing ends June 2nd.)
You're welcome, but I feel like you ought to have addressed me as Dr. Max. This is one of the rare occasions when my having earned a Ph.D. is relevant. One doesn't gain this kind of advanced-level understanding of logic at the neighborhood watering hole. (Usually.)
Fake news. A toddler is by definition between the age of 18 months and 36 months. These children are older than 36 months. www.law.cornell.edu/regulations/...
Well, it's a fact that it potentially is. But it isn't. Everything hinges on that word "potentially." This being the first isn't an inherent logical contradiction. In that sense, it's potentially true. There are alternative histories in which it would be true.
Given that Walsh said the unopened ballot packets "were for primary and general elections from 2022 to 2025," this looks (pending investigation) like the private mailbox place cleared unclaimed mail out of abandoned mailboxes and decided to toss ballots from already completed elections.
Walsh "said he would be pressing Hobbs for an explanation of why so many ballots were not returned to election offices and destroyed." Given that he said "the vast majority .. were mailed to people who rent boxes at a private mail handling center in Renton," that firm seems a better choice to press.
George W. Bush was elected, twice, without any voter in any state being required to show photo ID. Donald Trump was elected, twice, without any voter in any state being required to submit documentation of their citizenship.

There's already a quite nice cocktail called "Battering Ram." kindredcocktails.com/cocktail/bat...
I also find it odd that they cite to the fox9 news report rather than to the statement of probable cause included with the charges filed in court. That would provide the same information more authoritatively.
