I’m going to choose a spinning project for it and report back.

I have this Gooney I’m currently plying with which weighs 22g. I haven’t weighed it to see how much I’ve put in it yet. I also have a Swan that’s 42g—I’ve managed to put 24g of singles onto the Swan and it’s starting to get harder to work with.
4 oz would be great! I don’t have a Dragonfly yet but it’s definitely on my wishlist.
A small owl perched on top of a YIELD traffic sign.
Spotted this cute little guy while walking my dog.
Yes I also enjoy that about it! Only thing is I’d like a bigger spindle eventually so I can ply more at once
Two support spindles on a plying stand and a Turkish spindle full of plied yarn.
This is my first time plying on a spindle and I’m finding it easier to stop and start than when I ply on a wheel.

That always confused me too—tapping on the bubble is to leave a comment but if you wanna see the comments you have to tap on the original post…I think 😅
Lovely spinning and what a lovely collection too!
I love my support spindles because I’ve always preferred a woolen drafting style, but I’m currently enjoying the extra eye candy I get from spinning on my Turkish spindles. Wrapping singles on them is so satisfying and now I’m plying on one too.
Absolute chaos because who knows what’s in that 20%? Cotton? Polyester? Pet hair? All of the above 😂
A pair of support spindles each filled with thinly spun singles of wool and silk rest on a wooden plying stand set on top of an outdoor chair.

But now I’m eyeing my dryer lint and wondering how it’ll spin 😂
What a dreamy combo!
I love that idea!
Thank you! I made it from a painted braid from deep stash that wasn’t inspiring me anymore. I’m happier with this result.
I’m finding it challenging to spin my bfl/silk rolags for the same reason! It’s not drafting as easily as I would’ve thought for a woolen prep.
A support spindle with some wool and silk spun onto it on an armchair.
A set of wool and silk rolags lined up on an armchair in a gradient from green to purple.
I’m spinning a set of gradient rolags I prepped last year. I’m dividing them onto 2 spindles and hoping the colors line up as a 2-ply yarn. It’s a small amount, as this was an experiment, so not sure what I’ll make with it yet.

With that staple length I would do woolen, but I also prefer spinning woolen 😄
Love them both for a shawl! Also what lovely spinning and plying ♥️
I already follow you on IG and I think I saw your story that you created an account here.
Thank you! ♥️
Yes it is! It’s a Jenkins Swan in Canarywood.
Thank you! I love how Laurie’s spindles feel in my hands so far and the convenience of switching to another shaft when I’ve filled the current one.
Two support spindles with glass whorls full of handspun yarn and a green tweedy fluff of wool.
I think switching spindle styles reduces the strain on my fingers from repeating the same motions, so I switched to a primitive style support spindle today.

Thank you, that was a good read.

I’m currently doing several spindle challenges and one of them is spinning at least 15 minutes a day for 60 days. Today is day 15. Wrapping on Turkish spindles is so satisfying.
This is also my first time spinning a merino/silk/flax blend.
