ditching adobe is really hard when every alternative is either Flunkly™️ which is *almost* feature complete except for that one thing you do in Photoshop every single day or G.R.O.N.K., a FOSS app with the worst fucking UX you have ever seen in your life and no support for JPEGs for ethical reasons

that makes sense, i've been reading about grain synthesis and how it's implemented differently in different encoders and decoders and yeah, it does kinda seem like a mess right now
as for alpha being on a separate layer, is that not functionally the same as other image formats, but with potentially more control over compression level for the alpha layer specifically? i'm not sure if that's necessarily a downside, but i also don't know for sure
oh yeah you're right, my bad! it looks like avif advanced profile does support larger images, but i'm not sure if the easily-accessible encoders (e.g. squoosh, adobe camera raw, etc) make use of it
(double checking, but i had a much larger avif just recently)
?? i don't think any of that is true, avif supports larger image sizes with tiling, as well as an alpha channel
no love for avif?
tyyyy :)
i’m 26 that’s wild
i put together a new email template system for browsertrix & wrote a bit about it
it's a little janky but it's less janky than my receiver's software. the other option might be a dedicated streamer of some sort, a sonos port or a pi running volumio or something like that
not sure how feasible "run another service on your home server" is for everyone, but if you have an easy way to do that i recommend it
not an ideal solution but i run music assistant (www.music-assistant.io) configured with various sources (it supports spotify, among others), it's a much nicer interface than my receiver & streams over UPnP/DLNA to the receiver
When's the next soundcon gonna happen
i just let the domain expire last month :(
it’s been fun being a test subject for this! hoping luna can find some funding for this and keep expanding it, it works quite well (for the most part) even as it is now
Andor is fun to watch but fyi, y'all should be pirating it, Disney+ is a priority target on the BDS list

a screenshot of a little bit of chrome's devtools, showing several icons in a couple toolbars, and a dropdown with its contents truncated to "://"
i like that you can select the devtools' emotion
“Trump did Covid-19” is a federally funded graphic-design shitpost i never could have asked for & i love how incomprehensible it is.
my favorite part is that the page has a signature from Covid-19 itself. like damn, that must have been an expensive autograph.
much to consider with this "unlock with artist pro" button too
and the funny part is they're not explicitly setting it anywhere, that's just the default browser style for buttons when you set another border property (in this case, border color)
a screenshot of soundcloud's "Upgrade now" button
soundcloud is the only modern website i've ever seen use border-style outset in 2025

I can't emphasize enough that the most important thing journalists can do right now is publish exactly this kind of article
If you're trans and based in Canada, my friend @torontopubliclibra.com made this neat site which can help make sense of the process for updating your IDs.
