The capsule splashes down at sea
The bunnies brave are home and free
Will they go back? Presumably;
The moon's where bunnies tend to be

more software needs a BEGONE button
I like to stay up late to read
It fills, for me, an urgent need:
From daily strife my mind is freed
To let these novels intercede
An Ultima-4-looking screenshot of a many-armed feline character (drawn in a simplified style) standing in a purple-carpeted room with a "WELCOME" banner and a couple desks, one of which has a computer and coffee mug on it.
This is more representative of what the Silly Project is capable of, although right now it's a pain to actually build rooms. The multi-armed cat there is Aura, who's somehow become this project's mascot.
This is a deliberately simple tile set (the only defined entries are the wall and the floor), but this is capable of a lot more once I draw the assets it needs.
This now renders a room layout; this was not trivial to design in a way that would be easy to build but versatile in what it was capable of, and this is a good place to start.
I like to camp with food to dine
Then take a little piece of mine
And hook it to my fishing line
(The fish get fed, so they're just fine)

More kinds of food need to come in shapes like these (also letters and numbers). I could've sworn I'd seen card-suit pretzels too, but now I can't find them.
A glowy yellow quadruped made of simplified shapes; its head is long and bullet-shaped with a single large eye and no other feature, and its legs are just cylinders, but its tail ends in a leaf-like "hand" with five stubby fingers.
This glowing creature showed up in my dreams last night and I'm not sure what to make of it, but I wanted to show it off. It's trying to pass itself off as a normal Earth creature and thinks it's doing pretty well, but it clearly has no idea what it's doing. The thing on its tail works like a hand.
Do Latin/Greek roots for non-power-of-ten numbers count?
The main problem I've run into is nothing to do with the MUSH at all; Love2D offers a TCP-compatible socket library and an HTTPS library but no way to splice them together into an SSL connection, and I'd really like that. LuaSec might be an option if I can get it to work, but that's a big if.
The thing is, for all its flaws, I've been using MUSHCode for decades now and I'm used to it. Everything is a string, and for what I'm using it to do, that's fine. Everything happening inside the world is simple enough to express (it's just a very _wide_ problem; there's a lot to do).
A single hop and we're in space
Around the moon we dash and race
A hopeful future to embrace
As truth and beauty both we chase
The visual-MUSH side project is still no less silly an idea, but it's a silly idea that feels like it's getting somewhere. I can log into a specially-built MUSH instance and get it to see the starting room, and this strange hybrid Love2D/MUSHCode framework will lead to more.
I never had good results trying to get AI to do multi anything (back before I got disgusted with the whole endeavor). Most of the time it forgets how to count to six, and of course it always has problems with hands.
And now, as tribute for all my doom posting…
QUAIL BOB IS BACK AND HAS A GIRLFRIEND
A year ago today, at Wild Rumpus Books in Minneapolis.
This kitty is named Booker T. He clearly knew the “author signing” drill: he arrived at my signing table before I did, parked himself there, and collected pets from everyone who came through the line.
"Profile changes often: more than 5 days in last 30 days"
Interesting tag on this account.
This is, I believe, the key to the whole thing.
See this? Skeet more weird stuff from your thing (with alt text please).
We woke up to a sunny day
But very quickly, skies turned gray
We'll get them dry some other way;
Just have to wear our fur today
At Easter, as the day begins,
We dance through dusk as dawn-light wins
Around the sky, the circle spins
And bunnies orbit widdershins
Yeah, I was suspicious of it ever since I first heard the term "vibe coding", because that immediately reminded me of the phrase "no thoughts, only vibes". But if you're writing code, you _need_ to be thoughtful and intentional. Going "I dunno, let the chatbot do it" won't teach you anything.
There's something a bit poignant about a Bluetooth device failing to connect to another device right next to it when they're the only Bluetooth devices for hundreds of thousands of kilometres around.
The side MUSH project isn't really gelling yet. It's still trying to be too many things at once; it's been ravaged by scope creep and I don't know what it should be distilled down to. One idea I keep coming back to, though, is that it isn't itself a game, but a platform; games can exist within it.
I disagree about the "bigger bodies" thing (my preferred proportions for a taur are that the upright torso should end up the same height as a biped), but I am 100% with you on the "more taurs in games" thing. It's Shining Force, Golden Axe II, and what else?
The ducks don't know what warnings mean
They'll swim all day and act serene
But they need somewhere warm and green
And not so full of pool chlorine
I've been coding in MUSHcode for a long time now, but you've got a good point that a server that supports something easier to work with is a better idea. The fact that Lua of all things is _more_ formal than MUSHcode speaks volumes, and what I have in mind needs at least a little structure.
