とはいえ傷んでしまった帯を作り帯にしてもらって着続けることができるのはうれしいです😃
着物を着ている人たちの「作り帯にすれば気軽に着物が着れますね〜」という会話を聞いてふと思う。例えば昔でも作り帯にする技術はあったわけで、にもかかわらず帯を二部構成にしなかったことには、なるべくなら糸を切らない、とか、長いものを結ぶということに込める願いがあるからではないのかな

At the Kitamura Tokusai event on Saturday April 19th 11-4pm, a limited number of traditional Japanese sweets from Kyoto Nishijin’s famous Shioyoshiken (est 1882) confectionary shop will be sold at PARU La Jolla.
Kyoto’s chanoyu textile maker Kitamura Tokusai will be in San Diego April 19-20. The first event will take place at PARU La Jolla. This will be a rare opportunity to share tea with Tokusai san and to learn about the “fukusa” in the Japanese Way of Tea.

ミンゲイインターナショナルで先日見たチャパンというウズベキスタンの外套のような衣服。絣みたいな織物なのですが、茶の湯の裂地、太子間通によく似ているな、と思いました。シルクロードを経て日本にたどり着いた裂地が、人に愛され守られて今に残る。想いは、繋ぎ手がいる限り人間が地球上で与えられた時間を超えて残るのですね。
