this girl’s mom was a nurse and they didn’t take her seriously. also don’t get me started on how absolutely fucked up it is that medical care and CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES are privatized in the states, it’s so fucking unethical and it makes me want to rip my hair out. anyways rant over. shit sucks.

i have had to explain to my own doctor how to treat me, and am only now believed because i know the jargon and am taken more seriously as an “allied healthcare provider”, not to mention the privilege of living in a country where (most) medical treatment is not privatized.

it took me working in the chronic pain field, advocating for my own care for 10 years to finally get appropriate referrals, get diagnosed, to be believed. i spent over 10yrs being made out to be attention seeking, drug seeking, & overreactive, because doctors have no idea how to treat chronic pain

watching #takecareofmaya as a social worker and a person working in the chronic pain field, while also living with chronic pain, was fucking heartbreaking. the complete lack of empathy or understanding around chronic pain conditions, especially in children/youth is infuriating.

i continue to be the sleepiest guy despite all my efforts in staying awake 😔😔😔
