In all likelihood, we are going to lose one of our Pro Sponsors on Patreon for Final Gravity (not for any bad reason, just business changes on their end). As a very small publication, every single supporter counts, and Pro Sponsors are a big source of support for us. (short 🧵)
The Onion announcing the acquisition of Infowars on 4/20 is exactly the kind of energy I needed to see today.
ICYMI: I wrote about Cumbrian beer for @pelliclemag.com which was SUCH a pleasure because I got to write about @lakesbrewco.bsky.social and Gan Yam and Bowness Bay and Fell, and all of my favourite places.

Son
GlenAllachie 12 and Burton Bridge XL Mild for those interested.
J. Watt is fully in the Leto III era now though.
Dram of whisky. Half a mild. Sitting on red beer mats on a circular wooden tale, sunlight breaking through a window gives them a Warm glow.
Gonna make the hauf n hauf my thing this year.
Thanks Mike
Interesting as always from Matt. I wonder how much the resurgence in cask has been fuelled by the globals pulling back from mass production, creating space on the bar for heritage brands like Bass, Boddingtons and output from smaller breweries.
Yeah I remember drinking cask punk in a nicholsons pub around 2010/11 and remember it being a genuinely great beer

What if Geese’s promotion being outed as a psyop is, in itself, a psyop?
A wonderful long read, this, from @katiematherkm.bsky.social for
@pelliclemag.com about the breweries, brewers, beers and pubs that make Cumbria such a great place in which to slake a thirst.

And lo did he take the chalice to his lips, sip deep of the draught within, and proclaim:
"That's an absolute creamer."
See if you can also find Five Points railway porter, A&H cask beer is wonderful too, pillars Vienna lager, anything from the kernel (taproom is a must visit)
And the woman did speak unto the hound, saying, What do you mean, normal men, and the hound answered the woman, saying, We are just innocent men. And great was her emotion
From our Knowle Spring water to our use of whole leaf hops, quality is built into every stage of the process. The final step, the pour, can be just as important as the brew itself and for us, that pour should include a sparkler.
What is a sparkler? 👇

Apparently 200,000,000 birds are in flight moving north this week… the big return… and all I’ve seen so far is a cowbird. Or just heard one really. Jeesh. Maybe a scarlet tanager tomorrow. Back from Peru perhaps. Full of stories. Like this week’s beery news…
If you’re in need of a new podcast to listen to, we’d recommend Cheers with Nat (and not just because Amélie features in the latest episode!).

The problem with being a @pelliclemag.com reader is that the list of pubs to visit keeps on growing exponentially. This is a beautiful piece about pubs, breweries and of place. I love the Lakes and I need to go back. Thanks @katiematherkm.bsky.social. www.pelliclemag.com/home/2026/4/...
Some pub recommendations that didn't make the final cut here!

I am listening to Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells II (fantastic to write to) and forgot that Alan Rickman introduces the instruments at the album's climax, which has got me right in the feels.
When Hawkshead Brewery shed most of its team and closed its tap room, I thought beer in Cumbria would suffer. I needn't have worried.
My latest story for @pelliclemag.com is about the breweries and all the people and pubs that make up this county.
