Sorry, Chris! It really is a dreadful period of Who, a few minor bright spots notwithstanding. It's a bad sign when a TV satirist comes up with an absolutely brutal sketch about the show, and you have to reluctantly acknowledge that it's a fair cop

What's frustrating about this is that Who in 1985 WAS rubbish. And as is so often the case, when you leave people alone to make something - as happened between 87 and 89 - magic can happen.

But the general public DID argue against it, and as the theory goes, managed to save it - or at least earn a stay of execution.

Classic BBC politicking. Very clever too, by the time it finally did "die" no one cared anymore.

And from there it's easy to further develop the theory along the lines of "they then slashed the show's budget to the bone and stuck it in a death slot opposite coronation street to make it sure it was properly killed off for good"

I think the theory part comes in with "Dr Who was outright cancelled and the budget allocated to EastEnders, but the BBC walked it back after the outcry"

The problem is that evil US social media fims target kids and cause them harm, and the government doesn't want to bring in a law to make that illegal because it will upset them, so instead they bring in a law against the schools to make it look like they're doing something.

They then quoted us the most bonkers price for wood flooring, and compounded this "get the fuck out of our shop" stance by telling us it also wouldn't be available for months.

Ditto carpet stores. My partner and I went into one two years ago to buy a carpet and the people working there seemed shocked that anyone had come in (there were no other customers in the store) and didn't have the first clue about carpets.
