This is a war based on lies

They are doing good work these days! Congratulations!!
Big abortion win in PA today - the ban on Medicaid funding is unconstitutional!
AND there's a fundamental right to abortion!
We won!
(Though this Commonwealth Court opinion can be appealed - we'll see what our AG does.)
We had a last minute cancellation: does anyone with policy experience working in federal administrative agencies want to come talk to my HKS admin law seminar tomorrow (Friday 4/17) at 1pm ET about the role of policy experts in federal agencies?
Happy to do remote - DM me if interested!

Packing my bags this morning to fly to Raleigh!
Thank you to my wonderful hosts at UNC Law for inviting me to present my latest PLS article Restoring Justice co-authored with Kempis Songster and Meredith Elizalde at their faculty workshop.

Toy company owner: You get that new Easter toy done?
Toy designer: Sure did boss, real freakin' terrifying just like you asked.
Whoever is in charge of scheduling oral arguments at SCOTUS has a tragic sense of humor.
Here’s a link to the oral argument for the birthright citizenship case which will start any minute now
Am feeling the Temple love today after checking my mail and finding all of these kind notes from students and fellow faculty in my inbox! 🥰🥰🥰
The future is here and it looks surprisingly a lot like I thought it would in the 90s.
You and your work inspire me too!
Thank you, Paige!

This is not just a win, and not even just a win that will improve many people's lives. It is also proof of concept of a form of scholarship that Rachel pioneered. (Make sure to read the whole thread.)
Your support and amplification means so much to me, Edith! This win belongs to so many incredible advocates but I just feel so lucky to be with them as part of this journey!
True! Important correction! It’s just the cruel punishment provision now.
Your post reminded me of a Spanish saying “Nosotros estamos poniendo un granito de arena para un mundo mejor.” Effectively it means we all must contribute a little grain of sand in order for big change in the world to be possible.
Feeling is mutual 🥰
Thank you so much 😊
It’s so hard to put into words what this means to me, but I just feel so grateful to have been a small part of this effort.
Those conclusions—that life without parole violates human rights—grew out of advocacy informed and inspired by Redeeming Justice, an article I wrote with Terrell Carter and Ghani Songster arguing for a human right to redemption.

In its decision, the Court cites my amicus brief on behalf of UN experts (p. 34) and also relies on the conclusions of the UN Human Rights Committee (p. 31).

Today is one of those rare days as a lawyer and scholar when the law offers a glimmer of hope. Amazingly, today, the PA Supreme Court held that automatic life-without-parole sentences for 2nd degree murder, including felony murder, amount to cruel & unusual punishment under the PA Constitution.
Legal writers: I've posted to SSRN a short user's guide about how to use the Zotero citation manager and its Word plugin to automatically generate Bluebook citations that are 95%* compliant. The paper explains which fields to use for which type of source, and examples of generated citations.
most americans are clueless about how trump is ripping apart the future for them & next generations.
what the world knows/sees: the united states recklessly launched a war of aggression without one thought about harms to others (lives, economy, climate, etc). not. one. thought.
