A final post about The Baroness…for now.

I mentioned the French covers were not art but photos of topless women. They were also “Penny” books rather than “The Baroness.”

Additionally, the UK had alternate covers for the first four books. These are not my images. I’d love to track these down.

THE BARONESS #9: DEATH IS A COPY CAT

This is art crafted by Garrido for the 9th installment of this series which never saw print in the US, but did in France as a part of the Eroscope line. The French covers featured topless women instead of this art.

They are interesting reads for sure.

Back to posting book covers with this spy smut series. The cover artist would go on to do art for G.I. Joe in the 80s which also features a character named “The Baroness.” This is the 1st of 8 in this series with this style art.

I saw an image from the 1970s Incredible Hulk TV show once of a close up of Bixby’s face with the transformation eyes. He’s fully clothed and nothing else was going on. Bluesky flagged it as adult content. What the hell.

They are great covers. There are six that I still need. Pretty sure Chamblin in Jacksonville has them.

Three pulp paperback novels

Here was my loot from the day along with three books I picked up the day before at a local used bookstore. I could have purchased a lot more, but I capped myself. One dealer in particular had several books I wanted, but I found the prices a bit too high and the deal to be made not quite good enough.

I went with four friends, only one of which is a big pulp fan. The other three were nominally interested. But they walked the entire dealer room in the time I spent at the first table I came to.

Going to quickly wrap up my summary of the Windy City Pulp and Paper Convention. I spent most of my time in the dealer room.

I love the Abandoned Beauty Series. I’m curious, with ones like this one where the ground is so rough, what do you do to keep the models’ feet safe?

I was there for a bit on Saturday. It was a really cool show.

Agreed. I’ll return all the books and start the whole project over.

I had two left to obtain that were sent to me a couple months ago. But symbolically, I took a photo with my buddy and the two books I had needed. The quest is NOW officially over.

I was there with my oldest pulp fan friend, PLee. He was the one who first suggested that I buy all the old #DocSavage books but only when finding them “in the wild.”

I’m flying back from Chicago today. I stopped by the Windy City Pulp and Paper Convention for a very brief bit of time on Saturday.
