Avon / Karl is the only one I know with one. And I’ve not seen him IRL or otherwise for a while.

Do we have a new Chris yet? I've been in meetings for the past 2 hours...

they are awesome for things like "do enough chicken for the week" (keep it in the bags! put it in ice to get it under 30deg as quick as possible!)

We use the instant pot for it now, but I've had ones like that a few times, they worked great

"if you want to the goods, time to sub to my substack"

Thanks. I'll wait for the reporting on it.

A comic of two foxes, one of whom is blue, the other is green. In this one, Blue watches as Green finishes setting up his work station.
Green: I've got my notes, coffee, laptop, all I'm going to need.

Green sits down in front of his laptop, looking at his work with determination.
Green: And now I shall sit down right here and not move before all my work is done.

Green watches as Blue begins to wiggle.
Blue: And I shall distract you with an enticing dance.
Green: Why?
Blue: Why not?

Staycation. Swim in 2m waves at Palm.

And excellent pizza and a weka at the Waiheke Distillery. (With my friends vegan cheese on one!)

Gotta fuel the Range Rover to pull the horse float

Yup. Bigger tanks in the short term. Batteries, solar etc in the medium term

His math is off. Include insurance, wof, car cost etc.

And compare to an EV. Given the distance a cheapsh one.

I’m not 💯 confident in my memory or how long that was over. But it’s a hell of a subsidy for a private asset.

Marsden pt isn’t government owned.

Wasn’t the bill to the government to keep this privately owned piece of kit open around $6b?

As in $6b petrochemical bailout

Cos that number would go down like a lead balloon covered in shit.

NFirst blocked tank expansion in 2024 tho… which would help more right now.

Sounds like a PHEV would be ideal for you. Short EV range and fuel backup (BYD to a really nice pickup)

Tho some of the new Chinese ones have 1000km range. Its mad. And near 1MW charging 😬

But. You’re in the US and .. China. Etc.

Of course finding a charger to do more than 350kW .. good luck.

Oh VERY nice!

Q: why is charging too slow?

Are you only using DC fast chargers and going from 10 to 80? Or do you do more than a full battery every day?

A 32A (max single phase) home AC charger would fill that overnight easy, regardless of source (grid, battery, solar etc). They are about $1500 NZD (700US)

Nice! What did you end up with?

Our 2014 leaf is still going strong for island use. Sadly mevo self-immolated so we are a bit stuck for off island trips (well, rentals still work)

15kwh battery would work for that yes.

Not that an otherwise useless leaf battery would be about 10-15kw. So recycling is a thing too.

Solar tho. Charge the car, and the battery, and run the house by day. Use battery during peak and overnight. A bit left over to the grid…

… or you just hook the tractor to the house/milking shed. or you’re the guy with the 100% electric farm. Now sells power to his neighbours when it goes out. (Solar and battery). He’s an edge case but a good one.

It’s a different model and different thinking. The old rules don’t work.
