I NEED A MUSIC REC. Working on a project, full day at a PC, headphones in, avoid distraction. Efficiency is vital! I want some atmospheric/drone music similar to Eluvium. Tone is very important. As a lot of the stuff I've tried that algorithms throw up is far too "harsh". Serenity is key. Any ideas?

Trying to entirely replace vocational programmes with occupational programmes is never going to work at the scale that would be required. Following it to its logical end, there's a huge risk of ingraining geographical inequalities even if it was "successful".

Most sewage discharges aren’t classified as pollution incidents Huge numbers of chemical discharges into our waterways are not being classified as a pollution incidents

They’re not reducing pollution – they’re redefining it.

The Environment Agency’s own rules mean most sewage dumps don’t count.

This isn’t regulation. It’s cover.

Not saying Taskmaster has ruined me, but spent the day with my partner saying SCIENCE TODAY AND SCIENCE ALL YOUR LIFE! Whilst wandering around.

Lucy Bronze on how she decided to blast her penalty down the middle (and score).

“Statistically it’s risky for the goal keeper to stand still… so yeah, I love maths”.

I hate the heat, the only redeeming quality is it leads to what me and my partner call "Nigel Slater teas". Inspired by his recurring theme of just having desserts for a main meal. Tonight is vanilla cheesecake and strawberries for tea. Perfect.

It's also harder to spot fakes, at least with the EX the wonky button labels made it obvious to spot fakes. All the CWs seem to have wonky buttons

Off-site today. Having to brave public transport, keeping myself occupied.

This is our approach as well. Actually opened with D1 this year as well, for something entirely different at the start of the year. Eases them into essentially "2 blocks of maths" by having very clear different things happening in the two classes

Equating coefficients, but I will show long division. I find that long division tends to lead to more mistakes, and I like equating coefficients as it also becomes my building blocks of logic around vectors, Rcos(x+a) formulae, parametrics, Binomial expansion problems, Partial Fractions.

Not sure if that's convention from OneAdvanced Pro MIS, or if it's a pure quirk of many colleges/sixth forms

The fact both exponential models were about cars had my lot furious.

I don't understand why if this was apparently by design, they didn't turn one into a geometric series question. I mean, not hard to do!

And why on earth is there so much polynomial division?!?

I've become a bit disillusioned by the stats part of A level maths with after working on Access to HE diplomas - effectively asking for an entire exploration of data/manipulating/cleaning/graphing. Developing conjectures, forming hypotheses, writing up a report. It feels like actual statistics.

I would agree with that, and in isolation both the questions this year are actually really nice.

But at times it feels less "here is a statistics question that organically requires the use of pure mathematics skills" and instead "this is a statistics context in order to ask a pure maths question"
