I can’t stop thinking about the excessively growing dependency and nonchalant acceptance of our biometric data being used and collected while traveling. At one point i didn’t even need a passport, they just took a picture to verify me in Italy on the way back.

This is correct in England, where a good copy editor will tell you to use a singular verb when the subject is the club as an organization and plural when it’s the team as a group of players, but like “soccer” they’ve forgotten their own usage and suspect an American conspiracy

Gil Duran tweet: TLDR: Fascism in response to Palantir's long fascists screed on X.
"Your Account is Suspended" Message on X
The CEO of Palantir posted a fascist manifesto on X.
I pointed out that it was fascist—which resulted in a permanent suspension from X (my second time!).
So, when you hear the tweeters complaining that BlueSky is intolerant, remember why many of us came here in the first place.
A clip from The New York Times reads: "But only the entities that officially paid the tariffs are eligible to recover that money. That means that the fuller universe of people affected by Mr. Trump’s policies — including millions of Americans who paid higher prices for the products they bought — are not able to apply for direct relief. The extent to which consumers realize any gain hinges on whether businesses share the proceeds, something that few have publicly committed to do. Some have started to band together in class-action lawsuits in the hopes of receiving a payout."
The average American family paid $1,700 in tariffs last year, according to the bipartisan Congressional Joint Economic Committee. Few will ever see any of that money back. The refunds will go to companies, if doled out at all. What a joke.
Absolutely incredible.

Anyone who’s ever eaten / ordered from Ceviche Stop knows about Chef Walther. What they may not know is that he fought in his first, officially sanctioned MMA fight last week. It was the result of six months of training following a serious health scare that required him to change his lifestyle.
A man wearing boxing gloves inside a fighting cage. Headline reads “From the Kitchen to the Octagon: One L.A. Chef’s Journey Into the World of Mixed Martial Arts”
Chef Walther Adrianzen survived a diabetic coma. He then lost more than 30 lbs. and fought in his first mixed martial arts match.

“The right wing is on the decline. People are realizing that they have no vision or solutions, just hatred and empty slogans. All they’ve brought to the world is war, inflation, inequality, and social division.”

UPDATE: The LAPD officer at the center of this story -- Vincent Deglinnocenti -- is no longer an LAPD officer. Last month he surrendered his license to be a cop in CA. This comes a year after my reporting pushed the LAPD to investigate Deglinnocenti for pulling a gun on a teen. @lataco.bsky.social
A picture of a library shelf with a small rolled up note on it. The note says “read this” in child’s handwriting.
A picture of the note unrolled. In the same child’s handwriting it reads “beware of the future!!”
Still thinking about this note I found in the children’s section of the public library when I worked there back in 2018. This kid tried to warn us…
💀!!
Hell yeah, congrats Jon!!!

Two data points from a recent drive thru rural Virginia. 1. Many lawn signs saying "No new data centers," "Vote no on data centers," etc. 2. The classic rock channel promoted itself as "Every song chosen by a real human - no AI."
I again note that the most prominent previous use of MADMAN THEORY involved Nixon and Kissinger killing large numbers of people and expending enormous resources in order to obtain the same deal that could have been done before they were inaugurated had they not sabotaged it
