The MAGA movement has been so uniformly and demonstrably harmful –– to world peace, health, science, the economy, safety, education, justice, trust in institutions... pick a topic –– that it is stunning the Alberta UCP remain enthusiastic fans and still walk the same path.

Charles Adler (paraphrased): in 1992, Alberta had 11,700 hospital beds. Today with nearly double the population and an older demographic, it has 8800. This is not an ottawa or immigration problem.”

Do the real math, people.

The problem is Danielle Smith’s UCP mismanaging Alberta’s finances.

Not immigrants.
Not Ottawa.

I do, in fact, remember the day when WTI sank to $28/barrel, we had a Treasury Board meeting that day, we were dealing with the upcoming Budget.

I also remember the clear direction from Rachel Notley: we will not make Albertans suffer for the oil price roller coaster. And we didn’t.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

In 2024, I rose in Senate QP to ask why the Govt of Canada was still using X for official communications. Today, they are still there. What exactly will it take to break the spell?

Handmade pottery mugs with autumn leaf imagery

Old photo for a new season. I've been working away in my studio, but quiet on social media lately. The shift toward autumn always makes me feel like starting projects, though, and I've missed interacting on here, so I'm going to try to post more this September. Thanks for following along!

New pots from a soda-firing. Pretty happy with the porcelain pieces in this firing. I also might be addicted to shinos now. I need to figure out more regular access to a soda kiln. #sodafiring #canadianceramics

Currently photographing pieces. I often put it off, but then once I'm in it, I appreciate the time to really look at the work. The camera serves as a bit of distance that's really valuable for learning from my own work, I think. How does everyone else think about time spent documenting their art?
