Us underperformers cost them money, so they're trying to push us out.
LRS thread focuses on the D2D fees helping deter AI slop, but don't forget they also say:

A few years ago, e-filing services stopped offering free filing for people who have a 1099-misc. Guess what you get those from?

I have to pay to file my taxes because of self publishing. This eats up any profit I made.

D2D is showing their entire ass. Instead of increasing fees by a percentage across the board (thus also taking from the folks who can MOST afford it), they're instead literally imposing an "underachieving" tax. They're literally PUNISHING the folks who can least afford it.

Fees have taken away every good authoring tool I've ever had.
Booksprout (I fully blame this one for my sales decrease), newsletter sevices, tax services, and now Draft2digital.
I've only made over $100 ONCE since I started using them in 2019.
