Those affected have every right to feel the way they do, and act accordingly, but the risk for memetic hazards and bandwagons with this stuff are immense and people should be mindful about what they’re directing towards somebody trying to take steps to move forward.

I just hope people don’t tear this kid a new one when he gets back. I believe people should have the space to grow from their mistakes. It doesn’t excuse them from accountability by any means, but accountability doesn’t have to look like repeated communal punishment and excommunication.

Yet here lies the tragedy that undermines these lonesome few, in the early phases of their self discovery. It’s simply not enough to *know* they are not alone through the witnessing of synchronous creation, but in their pursuit of tangible connection, it only risks to endanger themselves and others.

It often goes unspoken that many artists in this space are either underage, or started whilst underage. Within this niche of the internet, anonymity is exacerbated by fiction. Cultured by both fetish and presence. (cont)
