Screenshotted excerpt from linked article reading as follows:

"In public, Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. has cultivated a reputation for care and caution. The papers reveal a different side of him. At a critical moment for the country and the court, the papers show, he acted as a bulldozer in pushing to stop Mr. Obama’s plan to address the global climate crisis.

When colleagues warned the chief justice that he was proposing an unprecedented move, he was dismissive. “I recognize that the posture of this stay request is not typical,” he wrote. But he argued that the Obama plan, which aimed to regulate coal-fired plants, was “the most expensive regulation ever imposed on the power sector,” and too big, costly and consequential for the court not to act immediately."

New York Times got receipts on John Roberts being like, 'I know this isn't how anything works, but a Democratic president is about to implement a policy!!'

Zohran Mamdani and the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection have announced a "Click to Cancel" rule.

The rule would make NYC the first city in the nation to ban subscription traps and force companies to make it just as easy to cancel subscriptions as it is to enroll.

Still thinking about this review, and though it’s in bad faith, it’s still a bummer. We try to put out good episodes and make something people can find joy in. Ratings help get to more people, so if you’re willing and able please consider leaving a review on Apple Podcast to cancel this dummy out 💗🙏🏼

cover of Resistance Reborn novel - big Poe face, Rey, Finn, Leia, and Wedge Antilles

7 years ago we published #StarWars #ResistanceReborn in the lead up to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

A story we've never told is that...during development, we seriously discussed + planned for whether Wedge Antilles should die.

(When he was confirmed to be in TROS that changed of course)

This is a supervillain monlogue. I will never understand how anyone can watch this man say things like “a whole civilization will die tonight” and fail to recognize evil when they see it.

THE AGE OF MAUL HAS BEGUN! After The Clone Wars, Rebels, and The Bad Batch, Lucasfilm Animation has developed a reputation for excellent stories and pushing the medium forward. With a character like Maul, who we’ve explored considerably in other media, the question remained if series centered around the villain could continue to deliver. It should be no surprise to anyone that with MAUL – SHADOW LORD, Lucasfilm Animation has done it again! And despite being set in a period we’ve explored, and executed with a familiar animation style, MAUL somehow pushes the bounds of narrative storytelling and artistry.
Much has been said about the more “painterly” style this series uses, and indeed, seeing it complemented with gorgeous oil matte paintings take the animation’s aesthetic into new heights. Praise also needs to be given to the LIGHTING in this show-- the dramatic use of light and shadow really help accentuate the artwork and help frame the darkness that this narrative strives for. Each episode will keep you saying, “this is beautiful!”.
A series focused around one main character can sometimes fall short, especially when that character is a villain who can be more impactful in controlled doses. While a character like Thrawn becomes less compelling as a main focus, MAUL – SHADOW LORD does an excellent job at balancing Maul’s story with the stories of Jedi Padawan Devon Izara and Captain Brander Lawson.

While a character like Thrawn becomes less compelling as a main focus, MAUL – SHADOW LORD does an excellent job at balancing Maul’s story with the stories of Jedi Padawan Devon Izara and Captain Brander Lawson.

These three characters form a triad of perspectives each symbolizing their unique relationships to the Empire. Maul betrayed and discarded, Devon persecuted and hunted, and Lawson doubted and oppressed. Devon and Lawson’s intersecting journey’s help strengthen Maul’s journey and make him a riveting anti-hero. Making this story more of a neo-noir/gangster story also helps give this series a fresh tone.
While all Star Wars animated series have dealt with serious themes (the struggle against fascism notwithstanding), they have tonally veered in favor of a younger audience. MAUL – SHADOW LORD seems to be an exception. It feels like a show geared for a generation that grew up watching The Clone Wars and now meets them where they are. Perhaps it’s the influence of Andor, or maybe it’s the sign of the times, but this series deals with its dark subject matter with maturity and clarity. The arrival of the Empire on Janix can’t help but mirror the difficult times we live in and the comparisons to ICE can’t be ignored.
MAUL – SHADOW LORD is a triumph. It continues Maul’s story while also giving us many new captivating characters and an intriguing, sinister, and engaging plot. Can’t wait to continue this story through Season 2 (and beyond?).

We were lucky to watch the first 8-episodes of MAUL – SHADOW LORD and we're happy to report that the show's story is as magnificent as it's stunning animation. A new-noir series mixed with lightsaber action makes this show a great addition to SW canon. Devon and Lawson are excellent co-leads 👹👹👹👹👹/5
