while my mom was pregnant with me, she was delivering chinese food on bike in new orleans. i like to think that the music she heard in the streets made me the way i am now.

writing is such a sophisticated and varied art form that i hesitate to prescribe any immutable rules of writing, except for this one: no matter what you're writing, be it fiction, personal narrative, an academic paper, or a patent application, you should begin every paragraph with "Erm ..."

i don't mean to single out baseball fans here, because you see this in lots of fan communities, but in certain corners people talk as though baseball is real. they think all the players are real people and the stadiums are places you can actually visit. to each their own, but that cannot be healthy

Nothing to do with RPGs but I picked this zine about pirate radio/raves up the other day and I am obsessed with just how nice it is, design wise.

The fold out poster/map wraparound jacket would be sooooo nice to do for an RPG zine with an old school adventure. People please rip this off.

A panel from a Calvin and Hobbes comic. Calvin's mom, eating dinner, says "Life could be worse, Calvin." Calvin, clearly upset, his mouth huge says "Life could be a lot BETTER too!"

happy birthday to bill watterson who gave me the gift of encapsulating my entire ethical approach in one comic panel.

Digital painting of a tall, voluminous cloud with a dark grey base, around golden hour. From the base, what looks like a small grey tornado is emerging, thin, tapering off in the air.

Digital painting of a tall, voluminous cloud with a dark grey base, around golden hour. From the base, what looks like a small grey tornado is emerging, thin, tapering off in the air.

We report in the late afternoon: we saw the bewilderment in the eyes of our expert before we saw the funnel cloud for ourselves. It never made it to the ground; there was never a storm, nor even a cumulonimbus in sight. And just as quickly as it had formed, it vanished.
