Yes, the theme was a thing when I reviewed last year, and I gave every submission the same on it in protest. It's silly that it's a mandatory review criteria for research--makes 0 sense.

..not makes much sense. I get that in-person ICA attendance is down and the org wants to encourage attendance, but this email feels like undue pressuring of new scholars who may not be able to attend and are not familiar with conference norms. @icahdq.bsky.social could this be clarified?

...as part of your paper acceptance. The idea that the "exchange of knowledge, research, and collaboration our conference provides is impossible" without my 1st year master's student paying hundreds (thousands?) of dollars out of their own pocket to attend ICA does... 2/3
