🎓 Today we celebrate a major milestone: the 2024/25 cohort of our Research Master in Philosophy and Economics students at Erasmus University Rotterdam has officially graduated!
We are proud of all they have achieved and excited to see where their talents will take them next 🚀✨
Instead, we suggest that their legitimacy is derived from the appropriate role of climate scientists as trustees, who must be held accountable through mechanisms governed by public reason.
Can international institutions tackling climate change derive their legitimacy from the epistemic authority of climate scientists? In our new paper, Antoinette Scherz and I argue that the presence of non-epistemic values in climate science challenges this view.
Philosophers often claim everything deserves to be questioned, ever question has a place in philosophy. Until you start talking about intimacy and people shy away. Next year, I will start teaching a research master course entitled 'Politics of intimacy'.We will be asking the uncomfortable questions!

Today, we introduce Dr. Laura García-Portela, Assistant Professor in Environmental Philosophy.
Laura's work sits at the intersection of climate ethics, philosophy of climate law and philosophy of climate science. She is also interested in the ethics of relationships and family ethics.

Nicholas Vrousalis is Associate Professor in Practical Philosophy at the Erasmus School of Philosophy. He works at the intersection of political philosophy and economic ethics, with a side-interest in political economy and its criticism.

Various students and staff members have been involved in a reading group on his book, and we are all very much looking forward to its publication!
Christopher works on causation and causal inference, especially in political science and econometrics. He has just completed a book that uses "conceptually engineering" to resolve foundational disagreements about the nature of causation, without appeal to intuitions.
