I'm not sure how I would react if I saw them wearing those in class.
In about 30 minutes, I'll be teaching my last upper level class of the year. All exams and papers after that.
Lol
It’s wild how much I am learning about medieval political thought right now.
Another huge reason state elections are looming large: The National Popular Vote Movement.
Had an interesting discussion with students this morning about the efficacy of a potential Harris message of "I told you this was going to happen in 2024."
I don't think that message gets her very far, because most of us knew it as well. And it sounds sore-loserish.
A man in a brownish red shirt sitting on rocks with bushes with mountains and sky in the background.
Thinking about summer plans (besides research, writing, and re-siding the top floor of the house). Picture of me on Clouds Rest, Yosemite NP, 2024.
Our grade schools are drowning in overworked teachers who cannot continue to fight off the tech onslaught that is destroying students’ brains.
"Pancreatic cancer mRNA vaccine shows lasting results in an early trial: Scientists caution that more research is needed, but nearly all of the patients who responded to the personalized vaccine are still alive six years later."
One of the problems here is that Booker thinks that 10% window of people you should be able to disagree with coalitionally can include white supremacists and fascists. His position from other interviews is that we have to be open to them in good faith discussion.
Thank goodness.
Way beyond 2/3. This is a call for constitutional overhaul.
We can be infuriated by this, or we can actively plan to make this happen. I'm for the latter.
We're being left behind.

I am constrained from even leaving my city for 4.5 years now, because of eldercare duties. But I’ve learned how to write in this scenario.
This is a description of my life at the moment.
[my first attempt at a book is not based on my dissertation. Not even remotely related.]
University of South Carolina recognized as national leader in advancing first-generation student success
Simply not designed for human habitation. Death camps.
We live in such a demented society.
Most fundamentally, Trump attacks Pope Leo because Trump hates grace, compassion, and sacrificing for others.
Trying not to think about how the really old white Chancellor of our university system used an analogy in his speech this morning that very clearly referred to our 40yo black uni president as a trained hunting dog.
I had a discussion w my upper level students about having a portion of future classes every week as a dedicated in-class writing lab in which they would hand-write a scaffolded research assignment during the whole semester in a writing journal. They absolutely supported. They want to learn to write.
I passed 10 state patrol cars from Thunderbolt to Oatland.
Orange Crush weekend in Savannah. State patrol is everywhere.
I wonder if the rallying cry for removal of Trump will morph into “the only way to get out of this war is with another president. He can’t do it.”
We need to keep saying this over and over. We can’t continue in the cycle we are in.
