Yessss 😭 honestly, it is so vindicating and refreshing for me to hear this from someone else. I get folks like this writing, and I get that tastes are different, but I dunno man!! It makes me feel like he doesn't trust the reader to remember key facts or piece stuff together ;;

I so often see Sanderson be praised for intricate world building and magic systems and I can't disagree with that but jfc. Please... Just... Show us rather than have every character give us a verbal thesis at every opportunity 😭

I'm not sure if it's cos I write myself but I tend to clock pretty quick if I'm going to vibe with something or not and I can usually pinpoint why. Sanderson hit all my 'no thank yous' but I stayed only for Kelsier 😂

This is a writer who has paid attention to the world, to people, and has poured those observations into their prose. Granted, I do think that the voices of the characters sometimes sound a bit too high level, too intellectual, but that ultimately doesn't matter when it makes sense in the story

Thoughts and Prayers was a horrific reflection of how cruel modern society could be (even if it was slightly sci-fi)but the fact that you could draw parallels to the real world was what made it so impactful

A lot of his high level computer coding talks go over my head, like Byzantine Empathy had a mini lecture on cryptocurrency and blockchain technology, but the themes of identity, human emotions, and existentialism found across all his work is stuff I love
