Ukrainian Pysanky are intricate Easter eggs created using a wax-resist method, representing rich folk art tradition. Using a stylus and beeswax, artists "write" designs on eggshells, dyeing from lightest to darkest to create symbolic patterns. Bring ideas on how to give these eggs a "science" twist!
Join the GNSI DC Chapter in decorating Ukrainian style Pysanky Easter Eggs at noon on April 4!
The event will be led by Haley Grunloh at St Andrew's Episcopal Church (4000 Lorcom Lane, Arlington, VA). Materials will be provided. Please reserve your spot by emailing lizsiskillustration@gmail.com.

The Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art recently opened a new exhibition, "The Art of Birdwatching with Susan Morrison." Based out of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, Morrison was an artist devoted to wildlife and its conservation.
The opening reception on March 17th (5:00–7:00 p.m.) is open to the public and will include an introduction by the curators.
Open March 17th–June 30th, this exhibition uses historical specimens, illustrations, and writings to trace the evolution of knowledge about plant reproduction from anecdotal observation to scientific fact and examines how those discoveries were shared, debated and accepted by the global community.
Next Tuesday, a new exhibition will be opening at the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation (Pittsburgh, PA): "To Make a Prairie: Pollination and Human Understanding"
