I’ve heard an increasing number of reports like this from Ward 4 neighbors — which concerns me as animals face freezing temperatures. DC Health and BVSPCA need to urgently address this situation.

See you today, #Petworth and #BrightwoodPark neighbors!
Join us at Larry Allen Memorial Park 4pm-6pm for resources from DC agencies, constituent services support, or just to share your ideas about how to improve our community.
But we can’t stop here. To keep pace with our goals, I’m proud to have introduced legislation to accelerate this critical work and create green jobs in the process.
If you haven’t yet, check your service line and learn how to get support for replacement:👇🏾

Taking a photo inside of a handmade purple photo prop frame that says "Truesdell" on it outside of the school.
CM Janeese Lewis George greets students while waving a pom pom and holding a "Welcome Back / Bienvenidos" sign written in Truesdell purple with a purple heart on it.
Welcome back / bienvenidos!
Every year, one of my favorite traditions is handing out pencils to DCPS students on their first day of school. It was a joy to visit Truesdell Elementary this morning to cheer on our Ward 4 scholars and see their excitement ahead of starting classes.
Wishing all our students a great year ahead!
ANC 4D is deeply alarmed by the DC Auditor’s report, and it furthers our concerns that MPD’s current policies are insufficient to address and prevent police misconduct.
We call on Chief Pamela Smith to immediately adopt the recommendations outlined in the report: anc4d.org/anc-4ds-lett...
ANC 4D has updated its website (the old site very much had “graphic design is my passion” energy). Check it out, and be sure to sign up for our emails! anc4d.org
Also, if we have $$$ to completely revamp the Rock Creek Tennis Center in Ward 4 (including $3 million in FY26 for planning & design work on a pool there), surely we can find the money for a library in a Ward 4 neighborhood that so desperately needs it, literally half a mile away.
But I digress.
I do not support making the pretrial provision of Secure DC permanent without having adequate data to understand the impact.
Pinto asked why we should require strenuous study before passing this bill — bc when detention and racial equity is at stake we should be certain we’re not creating harms.
This deal seems to be a positive development, I have 2 major concerns about process: 1) Why isn’t the W4 CM nor impacted ANCs being notified? 2) Why does EOM keep prioritizing projects that don’t align with Ward 4’s top needs? This is great, but what about Kennedy St library we were promised?
As Chair of the ANC abutting these properties, it’s beyond insulting to Ward 4 that our Councilmember @cmlewisgeorgew4.bsky.social didn’t find out about this until days before the legislative meeting. My ANC was never notified officially.
I commute through this intersection too — I’ll be submitting a TSI flagging concerns re: bike lane, blocked intersection, and impact on safety for students especially (students from 3+ schools regularly use this intersection!)
Whenever projects take place in #Ward4, it’s essential neighbors make their voices heard so plans reflect the needs and wishes of our community.
In this 🧵, I want to highlight a few opportunities for neighbors to share feedback on important #Ward4 projects currently underway.

Housing security: DC policymakers must choose investments in housing instead of displacement and criminalization. #ChooseDC #DCBudget
We need @mayorbowser.bsky.social @chmnmendelson.bsky.social to #ChooseDC this budget season. That means safe, stable & secure housing for all, ending homelessness, supporting affordable housing & investing in public housing. Choose us! @fairbudgetdc.bsky.social platform: bit.ly/ChooseDCPlatform
Screenshot of tweet from Mayor Muriel Bowser @MayorBowser: "Mayor Bowser released the following statement on the evolution of Black Lives Matter Plaza" "We have long considered Black Lives Matter Plaza's evolution and the plaza will be part of DC's America 250 mural project, where we will invite students and artists to create new murals across all eight wards. The mural inspired millions of people and helped our city through a very painful period, but now we can't afford to be distracted by meaningless congressional interference. The devastating impacts of the federal job cuts must be our number one concern. Our focus is on economic growth, public safety, and supporting our residents affected by these cuts."
History has shown that giving in to bullies emboldens them for bigger attacks. Congress has been threatening to take away our funding since the start of Home Rule 50 years ago. We have always fought back. Let's not give up the fight before it’s even started.
As a parent of an IEP student, I’m terrified about what Musk & McMahon will do to special edu, especially given this Administration’s hatred of accessibility.
Together with the Dept of Ed’s investigation into @dcpublicschools.bsky.social, I’m extremely worried they’re setting up for something bad.
MPD has refused to say where the officers will be assigned or whether they will receive back pay.
In addition to the officers’ obstruction, “9 other young Black men accused Sutton of knocking them off motorbikes and stealing small amounts of cash and weed.” washingtoncitypaper.com/article/7594...
I was angry when Trump circumvented the judicial process to pardon the officers involved in the killing of #KaronHyltonBrown as political red meat for his MAGA base.
But the reinstatement of the officers to the MPD force is a betrayal to residents here in the neighborhood where he was killed.

I agree! I hope you will ask DC Health to ensure that readily available information is available on this, flu, and covid — including messaging that encourages masking indoors during high-transmission times, especially for at-risk individuals.
Thank you for the opportunity to testify today!

The Dept of Health Care Finance decided not to implement Medicaid reimbursement of home visiting programs required by my bill Council passed & funded. This exasperating & irresponsible decision excludes new parents from services critical to health & child development.

I'm deeply concerned about this -- I'll be asking @councilofdc.bsky.social members what they'll do to provide emergency resources for the vast numbers of DC residents who are reeling because of President DOGE.
How did this person not hit anyone??
I am actually shocked she said that aloud. Not shocked she’s not protecting our noncitizen neighbors. But shocked she said the words aloud. Is there audio/specific quotes?
what was posted?
