He’s now trying to sell a $10,000 TV to some couple and won’t acknowledge us when we try to get his attention. We wait. We grow impatient. I take the monitor and walk it up to checkout myself. At the checkout they ask you to buy extra insurance (no), sign up for extra notifications (no), donate (no)

He continues to talk about how brilliant the glasses are and details how you go online to schedule an appointment for the glasses demo, but through Meta’s website — IDGAF — but he keeps rambling about the glasses. Finally we say we are leaving. Go to tech desk to find the monitor and the salesman.

But! Here comes that guy with the Meta glasses. He really wants us to demo those glasses. I ask if they deliver ovens to Grand Marais, he sys yes, but for a fee (online later says no). We politely listen to how great the new Meta glasses are, but finally say yeah those aren’t for us.

I say what about the $329 Dell 4K with 120z online? That’s here, but not on the floor for display. I say, that’s what we want. He says we MUST checkout with him. He’ll leave the monitor at the tech desk and we should grab him when we want to leave. We go to look at ovens. No appliance salesperson.

Here’s shopping at #bestbuy — you are looking for a computer monitor, but a guy wearing Meta glasses shows up instead begging you to take a demo of the glasses. After you insist you need a monitor he sends a guy over. I want something 4K or higher resolution. He shows us $1200 and $900 monitors…

The #RideKC Streetcar is a disappointment tonight. Having one set of tracks and a broken down streetcar is a poor design.

I saw all but two best picture nominees this year. Hamnet was the best film. One Battle felt formulaic. Sinners was very fun. Marty white privilege fest. Bugonia I’d watch again. Frankenstein kept me up way past bedtime (thrilled). F1 whatever. Train dreams was so lovely.

I went to Burger King in Duluth and left wishing I hadn’t. The tables and chairs in that place were shellacked with grease and needed to be sandblasted. But I do appreciate the Plant-based Whopper exists.

Realized, as my JPMS 6th grader practiced his trumpet last night, that the discordant squeaks, bops, booms, all these flutters of noise, is exactly how my brain has operated during this #IceOut occupation.
