It’s that time again. The next 7 days are stacked with showcases, world premieres, and deep dives into what’s next in gaming. From major publishers to indie gems, there’s something for everyone and plenty of room for surprises.

Valve has famously never released a third mainline game in any of its major franchises, not Portal, not Left 4 Dead, and certainly not Half-Life. If this rumor holds, Half-Life 3 could be both a long-awaited return and a final farewell to Gordon Freeman.

What makes this more than just another leak is McVicker’s claim that this is being designed as the final entry in the Half-Life series. Rather than opening the door to more sequels, Half-Life 3 may serve as a true conclusion to the story arc that began in 1998.

According to longtime Valve insider Tyler McVicker, the game, codenamed “HLX” is currently playable from beginning to end and is now in a polishing phase. It will reportedly not be a VR-exclusive title, unlike Half-Life: Alyx, and may be formally announced as soon as this summer.

In August 2024, Embark confirmed a shift from free-to-play to premium, pricing ARC Raiders at $40 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

With the countdown aligned to SGF’s opening, a reveal feels likely. But whether it's a surprise release, open beta, or new trailer, only Embark knows.

However, some believe a full release is unlikely and that Embark may instead announce an open beta or provide a firm release date.
