Eye Dr: can you see any better?
Me: *stands up* OH MY GOD. I SEE EVERYTHING SO CLEARLY NOW. NONE OF THIS MATTERS. NONE OF THIS WILL LAST. OUR AMBITIONS ARE MEANINGLESS. ONLY OUR CONNECTIONS WITH OTHERS MEAN ANYTHING.

if I understand American politics correctly, progressivism is something that requires 60 senate votes to work, while national conservatism doesn’t require any votes at all
I have begun reclaiming blogging by discussing Hitler and my dead lizard.
My blog has a dark theme and an RSS feed, and I hope you'll consider checking it out.

Thinking it’s both.
I can’t tell if I still have a concussion or if everything has just gone to shit or both.
Sooner, certainly for us out in Seattle
What I want to know is, what authority is directing people to surrender these controls? Presumably Trump but musk has no authority himself. Are people just immediately caving?
I’m really interested to see if this helps you out and if you have any big adjustments or insights around how to improve it
My dose of meds is on my nightstand next to a glass of water. I’ll take them, get up, grab my clothes and things to take downstairs and bypass a ton of interruptions and redirects. Things go startlingly faster
All I have to do to make coffee is walk in and hit a button. Most of the tasks are teed up to be resistant to finding kids or spouse where they usually aren’t etc
YES. AT LEAST ONCE.
Typical morning routine
Night routine
It is crusty but it works and that’s where I am at right now
It’s stupid, but I have a pinned doc in Notes that I use as my checklist. I copy the whole thing into a new note with the current date as the name in a folder called Daily Tasks. Then I start marking things off
In the evening I open up the list and work through the individual items when I get an organic pause to knock one of them off. I’ll finish off what’s left during the last half an hour or so while I am getting ready for bed.
The tasks are small. Big win when they’re already done in the morning, tho
Can play guitar for a few minutes at a time but it gets too painful very quickly.
Got broadsided skiing this weekend and ended up with a bruised rib cage and a broken thumb.
Do not recommend: 0 Stars
Well, apparently he doesn’t own a Les Paul, was never into Judas Priest, and didn‘t win the awesome wife lottery.
Plus, um, all the other stuff.
…that is currently doomscrolling instead of doing tai chi
But ANYTHING that can get randomized now gets done the night before: coffee made, meds out, clothes picked, commute bag packed with laptop and workout clothes, headphones charged and ready where I do tai chi at home before I leave, etc.
These are the acts of a desperate man.
I have to have nightly checklists to prep for my morning checklist so that I can get out the door and get to work at a reasonable amount of time with a modicum of self care.
Ski injuries this weekend hurled a giant spanner into the works for at least a week.
They do not care about fixing anything. They do not care about running the government. They want to set the Constitution on fire, destroy the federal government, and torture and murder their enemies for fun. This is their only true political commitment
After several deleted, wordier drafts:
You rule, John.
By the way, hat tip to @scalzi.com for “Shitmonkey” (go read Kaiju Preservation Society, it‘s really good)
What fresh hell is captain shitmonkey bringing us today?
