Solid but I'd like to wait until I've taken in the whole "opera."

Beautiful Darkness a great book that doesn't get talked about enough.
Recent Reads: Dong Dong Circus by Sasaki Maki.
The avant garde, the so avant garde that there's no real story, are difficult to have a chance to be my favorites, but I'm glad they exist. A book like this is training to slow down, smell the roses, and look at the drawings.
Recent reads: Love and Rockets 38.
Final or penultimate chapters of some of the mature arcs of Jaime's and Beto's.
Not so much critism as it is a survey of poetry comics that morphs into a 'Why do art' essay, is still a very enjoyable read by Lara Boyle.
Recent read. Godlike by Richard Hell.
Quick, interesting, entertaining alt proto punk novel about a dysfunctional relationship, artists in NYC in the 70s.
Hockit looked drunk stumbling around. It was fun but he can't fight like that against Derrick Lewis.
Some good analysis and an interesting spotlight on "that time Dave Cooper did colors on Grendel." ("That time that..." should really be the formula all comics essays).

These Hate things are good enough. I like what I read but I also don't think to myself, "I need more of this."

Love and Rockets 38, slowly but surely. It takes me a good 50 minutes to read an issue so a lot bang for you buck.
Recent read. Electric Chair by Adam Falpis.
Trying to capture the art style and feel of 70s undergrounds could turn into the equivalent of Creed covering a Frank Zappa.
I liked this more than that, so it's more like Arcade Fire trying to cover Zappa. ✌️.
Unless Christopher Nolan writes the poem's Odysseus: a cunning, pillaging, **ping, slave trading, murderous thief then it won't be very faithful.
I'll still be there for it. But it would be crazy to get a true Odysseus on the screen. I guess we have the poem for that.
That Bernie Wrightson Creepy presents is a nice package. I wish some of tge others in that series weren't expensive and out of print.
Rare Flavours was beautiful. I hope to re-read it soon.

Lone Wolf and Cub Vol 1 DELUXE. This is like the fourth time I've read some these stories in the last few years if you count the pocket size, omnibus, in polish better sized, and now the deluxe.
This is funny.
Jo Adell robbing three home rins in a single game is a sight to see.
Tracing the route of the Odyssey.
Love the poem and both translations I dipped into. It does get a little too slow before the bloodbath scenes. I'm sure the film will be sufficiently Hollywood-ized.

Edifice by Andrzej Klimoski. A very dark symbolic, perhaps meaningless Christmas story.
The Codefendants aren't for everybody, but they're definitely for me.
I am very behind on my Wednesday Warrior comics. I'm not following any DC or Marvel monthly right now. But everything:
Energon
Ghost Machine
Conan
...is plenty to keep me busy.
I like these very early oscar prediction videos. They'll of course be extremely wrong but it gives you something to stand on this part of the year.

Red Storm on the Reich, a full setailed account on events that in most World War 2 books consist if a single sentence of "Then USSR pillaged there way into Berlin and Hitler bonked himself"
The Aaron Turner era of Neurosis begins with a thing of beauty. Through Silver in Blood is a great album. I hope we get more of this for years to cone.
I like Henry Oliver's blog, I think he's wrong on Dostoevsky. Although I don't quite disagree with him that Tolstoy and Turgenev might be better. But the comparison is only because they're all Russian, the reality is that comparing them is ill fitting.
