Here is 'Silver', oil on canvas, 54x44cm, £1200. It was painted for the Ekphrastic Towers exhibition in Stockport Art Gallery, and is about an old man's memories of an old Ronson petrol lighter. I wanted to add a sense of time to it.

A close up of 'The Blood of Winter' underpainting. The glaze will ad more detail. The brush is an old Proline 3/0, the tiniest they make.

Today, a break from art to design and start to build a router table optimised to work on long lengths of wood, for picture frames... assuming it works.

A new music video for 'The Myth Of Sisyphus' went live last night on my Official Music Channel. Many thanks to the 17 listeners so far! Here is the link to 'Life in the Mirror'.

I won't. I don't sell art in other ways. Contact the gallery directly if you want to buy a painting.
Thank you. Yes, all of my works are for sale with worldwide shipping via the galleries I have partnerships with:

Today I'm reminded that the painter should make the difficult look easy, and the easy look difficult.

A colour study and 23.5kt gold-leafing today for my portrait of H Beam Piper on panel. I may need to wait for one of his books before I can start painting...

Today, drawing out a new composition about money worries. This will be on a smooth panel, Renaissance style, and possibly include some gold leaf and old paperback sci-fi book pages.

Here is the poster to that exhibition. I remember that King Arthur Pendragon, Chief Druid, visited us. My limited edition book is titled 'Songs of Life' (about 5 of 100 copies remain). A second (different sized) edition was published generally on Amazon as 'Songs of Innocence and of Experience'.
In January 2015, I took part in an art exhibition in William Blake's old neighbourhood. For this I created a limited edition art book of Songs Of Innocence & Of Experience, and today, my audiobook of this is out here:

The attribution was 'after' Hals. The original here(?)
Can't beat a bit of Frans. A master of paint handling.

A Rembrandt Sheeky 😉
Here is one of my paintings: 'To A Fly Trapped In Amber', oil on canvas panel, 54x44cm. Inspired by a poem by John F Keane, this includes some elements from The Death of Chatterton by Henry Wallis. Also, partly painted with actual amber in the oil.

A tiny bit mixed into the paint on the palette for use during the glazing layers. Only about 1-2 drops will be enough for a full day of glazing.
Nobody else even had a hat, never mind one with a feather...
A joyous painting day here. One recent innovation was to remove one pot of my 'double dipper' and fix there a watch-glass for the tiny drops of oil I use. Excuse the grubbiness of its metal, it's 20 years and over 1000 paintings old. Never too late to innovate.

Thanks. I'm still amazed how many people (even artists!) go to art openings dressed as ordinary people. Hope you can make it to occasional exhibitions.
A nice event last night at the opening to the first Nantwich Museum Open Exhibition. To visit Nantwich Museum to see 'The Unexpected Return Of Oliver Cromwell In 2020' seems the perfect occasion to wear a cavalier hat! My painting is in a prime spot, honoured.

Yep, I was aware of that. Hope the weather there is good at this time of the year.
Thanks for the likes, @artsallianceofstfd.bsky.social. Nice to see an inspiring local arts organisation at work. I am happily reminded of my trip to Stratford-upon-Avon last year too.
My album 'The Myth Of Sisyphus' is released today. A concept album framed around Sisyphus, rolling his hope-filled rock. If you'd like a look or listen, find it here:

Today, more painting plans in progress. Two colour studies painted for future works. Onwards we roll our rock.

For me it's an explosion of joy in darkness, day (or spring/life) exploding into night.
Thanks, yes there is a lot in this one.
Fully in painting mode for the summer here. Here is one of my big paintings from last summer (many years in development): 'Time Independent Portrait Of René Descartes Thinking', oil on canvas, 60x80cm. Hope you like it.

I've painted the Moon a lot, thought I'd share one in honour of Artemis II. Here is 'The Death By Explosion Of Moons And Keyholes', oil on plaster, 30x40cm. This took months, it's painted on layers of thin sheets of plaster to make it 3D.
