My main point wasn't to knock the clue (although I did) but to rate the imagined joke based on the clue, and defend the honour of joking Dad's everywhere who frankly do better! To me it's the Xmas bon-bon jokes that really epitomise clumsy not-quite-right homophones.
I do sometimes get caught out by the fact that people are willing to do homphone for only a part of a word - which seems fraught in English. But here, even the "atta" doesn't really work, the stress is on wrong syllable. Mind you, HP not needed IMO, spelling "atta" is same as in "attaboy" anyway.
