As Hillsborough book battle unfolds, other districts wonder who’s next Florida school boards are weighing the state’s push to bypass standard reviews to remove controversial books.

What's happening to libraries in Florida should frighten everyone.

Spurred on by Moms For Liberty, the AG is threatening librarians with felonies for stocking LGBTQ+ books and overruling established processes for removing "harmful" material.

It's a full on censorship campaign by the government.

The Nonbinarian Book Bike, a pink cargo tricycle that distributes free queer books of all genres to all ages, is gone. On the morning of April 2, 2025, when Nonbinarian Bookstore proprietor K. Kerimian (they/them) arrived on-site to open for the day, they found the boxy, pink cargo bike missing from its usual spot.

Kerimian first declared, "We're not going anywhere" following the second vandalization of the bike. Regardless of the reasoning, there is no justification for this act against our symbol of pride and community solidarity. We use the Book Bike to distribute queer books of all genres for all ages across the borough, along with the message of queer joy and resistance.

“After Trans Day of Visibility,” Kerimian said, “This feels like a terrible joke."

Please help us say: WE ARE (STILL) NOT GOING ANYWHERE. Donate today to help us recover from this theft, including raising funds to purchase a replacement book bike; additional security measures for the store; create an emergency fund to weather additional targeting; and aid our mission of distributing free queer books and resources for all.

About The Nonbinarian
The Nonbinarian Bookstore is an exclusively queer bookstore and community space. It is an extension of the Nonbinarian Book Bike, which was formed to provide access to and promote representation of queer stories for all ages, directly bringing LGBTQIA2S+ books to the folks that need them most. The Nonbinarian collective strives to empower and affirm queer and trans people of all ages by offering accessible services, such as free resources, workshops, and events, as well as continuing the foundational work of the Book Bike's mobile book distribution.

Want to help support an indie queer bookstore in need? The Nonbinarian's book bike, used to distribute free queer books across NYC, was stolen earlier this month. This store is such a wonderful, joyful community space. Please consider showing them some love. www.gofundme.com/f/help-us-re...

"to democratize art is not every person having a cute drawing made in seconds, to democratize art is every person having time and health to learn and make art if they chose to, and mainly to have the means to think and relate introspectively with art."

A radical skeleton telling you "Just start. You don't need permission. Art, craft, 2nd book, cake, writing, that show, any new skill, making friends. If it sucks, ask for help. The time will pass anyway"

The Smithsonian's queer erasure of an AIDS artwork should alarm us all By omitting the tragic story behind Felix González-Torres "Untitled" (Portrait of Ross in L.A.), the National Gallery of Art is setting a perilous precedent, warns art scholar Ignacio Darnaude.

The erasure of queer people and history from our art should alarm you. It is a first step in erasing us completely.

Resist this. It’s unacceptable and we cannot let it happen.
