I'm all for the Mets shaking up the batting order, and getting Lindor out of the leadoff spot is long (like 9 months)overdue. But what's the logic of putting Benge, batting .151, with a .237 OBP in the leadoff spot?
I get that he's fast, but he's essentially never on base, so... why there?

Streaming platforms continue to absolutely nail the “Things no one asked for” category.
To put the Mets-Dodgers series in perspective, in the 2nd inning tonight, the Dodgers’ backup catcher and backup shortstop just scored more runs than the Mets have in their last 4 games combined.
Tonight the Dodgers said, “We’re playing the Mets right? They’ve scored 1 run against us in the past two games, combined? No need to ask Ohtani to bat.”
It’s like they think they’re playing an expansion team.
I’m definitely going to have to start using the phrase, “I asked the Gooch…”

Maybe, but not scoring from 3rd with no outs is more than just batting average. It’s a decision not to sacrifice, a decision not to practice/teach hitting fly balls.
Bichette advanced a ghost runner last week by hitting a grounder to the right side, the 1st time a Met has done that in a long time.

There’s a technical term for teams that consistently fail to score with runners on 3rd base with 1 or no outs: They are called “Bad baseball teams”.

With a man on 3rd, the Right Fielder gets pulled in to be able to throw the runner out at home on a sac fly, which is why the ball went over his head.
If Mendoza could convince the rest of the team to play ball like Bichette in late innings, they'd win a lot more games.

Look, UConn has always been allowed to grab and batter their opponents in the tournament, and Geno wants everyone to know it’s NOT okay when someone else does it.
Over the last couple of decades, Geno’s teams have eliminated so many really good finesse teams by just grabbing and battering their opponents, knowing the refs swallow their whistles in the tournament. And he is very, very butthurt that another team beat him at that (terrible to watch) game.
But I guess if you believe in the magical voodoo of supply side economics, or that Reagan wasn't a racist, or that the Republicans haven't been completely toxic to the US for every one of the last 46 years, then any other excuse for horrific, inexcusable behavior must make sense.
