I don't know if that was the intention because I wasn't involved in the design process but that's a cool parallel
So just the model itself could be reused with some changes to make it match the style better, and you'd have to make the weapon be able to split into two parts connected by a rope like you see in the short video. And the UVs, textures and rig would have be redone so it's not an easy copy paste.
Old Akali uses the ArcSys way of stacking UVs into square areas which is nice for texture memory. 2XKO uses a more standard UV layout which is more versatile and scalable for skins. They use different types of textures too. Old Akali was rigged in Blender and you can't transfer Blender rigs to Maya.
I can't speak on the design side since I only modeled her, but the old model couldn't have simply been reused. It uses a similar style but on a technical level it's extremely different from how 2XKO champs are set up and would have need a major rework. I personally really like the new design.
