New sona idea
A group of skiffs in various poses. From left to right: Sitting cross-legged, waving at the camera, fiddling with their hands bashfully, doing leg stretches.
HEADPIECE: Mimics hair, visually. Can be pipes, gears, antennae, synthetic hair, whatever. Very defining feature. HEAD SHAPE: Usually a sideways teardrop. Kinda beak-y. Mouth can be on the underside. EYES: Glass lamps with floating pupils that block light. Expressions (eyelids, eyebrows) also block light. Pupil shape can be anything. EXHAUSTS: Not necessary but they look cute. Usually has two. Go wild with the shapes. ENGINE: Normally combustion, but doesn't have to be. Tends to sputter a lot. CLAWS: Usually not fully-featured hands unless you're willing to draw them. These can be any tool. Claws, fins, guns, etc. BOOSTER: Essentially a tail. Can take inspiration from any kind of propulsion (Jet, propeller, plasma, etc) BODY: Made of something flexible, like canvas or rubber. The waist belt holds the engine in place but is also a waistline. SKIS: Springy! Acts like prosthetic running legs. They kneel down and use their booster to ski fast. Skis curve less if they aren't standing on em.
These are Skiffs, my open species. They're custom-made robots on an arid planet, featuring flexible ski-legs and a small rocket booster for a tail.
They have a variety of roles, from deliveries to racing. Depends on what they're built with! Most are scrapped together from old parts.
