After many experiments, the client and I agreed that any connection to the Resurrection of Christ would be implied through the environment, and never through the characters' acting. This meant no Halos, acknowledgements of God through the upturned face / hand, or levitation. The final Jojo pose was ludicrous enough for this purpose.

Sketch of the final painting. The perspective had been adjusted to keep both characters in frame.

Flat colours of the final painting: the painting sources did not use saturated blues or ultramarines, as these dyes were ex-pen-sive! As a result, the blues were kept desaturated, mixed with greens and pale yellows. Paintings from this time primed their shadows with Siennas and Umbers in the underpainting. Hence why the shadows are typically warmer.

The artwork doubles as a pair of stickers. These have been exported as separate images for the client to print.

I made sure with the client that they are comfortable with the depiction of their character in this Biblical scene. The request was to have an "Energetic" return of the Lucario. More details in each of these alts.

A Lucario emerges from a tomb sealed with a circular boulder. He is dressed in a sharp white button-up, holds his all-important beret in one hand, and menacingly points with the other. Seeing the Lucario, a red Roman nardoragon soldier shrieks, hand raised and hiding behind their tail. Their spear clatters to the ground.

Wow that's a giant apple. What's the variety called?

'In the wild' sketching on the train. There was a lady sitting in the corner reading a book on a Sunday morning. I could only get her gesture in before needing to transfer lines. The model for the middle man was actually standing up right across from my seat watching his phone. The hairstyle was made up. I ought to hide the fact I'm sketching better. The guy on the left was really in deep sleep. The ride was 40-50 minutes end to end. The long it went the lower his head got!

Face sketches. Refs were taken from Sketch Daily (www[.]sketchdaily[.]net) Faces are really hard! I went in capturing what I saw on paper. Trying to understand the anatomy. I could only get my head around it by shading.

Made up character drawing while sitting by some public steps. Many people did walk with their phones, shoulder bags stung low.
