For years I've been faking beef stock w soy grits, dry-toasted, stewed and 'finished' with toasted sesame oil, some Engevita yeast and a dash if pomegranate molasses. 'Rest' 24 hrs. Strain and use for stroganoff, goulash, beef enchiladas soup, Ghiuvetch (Romanian Vegetable Stew). Stump the foodies.

The Yanks are talking about us holdouts "virtue-signalling". That one hasn't reached Ontario yet, but if my N95 means I'm virtuous -- first time, ever! And I'm retired already! 😜

Dude! πŸ’― I just yelled at the TV because the CNN news reader used 'adverse' instead of 'averse'. Losing battle... Only the French really care about their language... and Quebec has actual language police. Hardcore.

Feds want court to toss out Burns Lake decision against RCMP Ottawa is asking a Federal Court to throw out a decision by the CHRT against the RCMP in the case of a teacher in Burns Lake, B.C.

Only in Canada: NINE YEARS to get a decision out of the Canadian Human Rights tribunal on a discrimination Claim filed in 2017! And the feds want it quashed. They argue that all complaints against the federal police [RCMP] must be filed in a federal court, not CHRC.

If they decide to pursue the 'principle' of the pre-emptive strike, we will all get nuked and N Amer will be uninhabitable for -- who knows how long?

In a shop window, I can see I present two barriers to communication: mask and black hornrims. Three, in summer w floppy sun hat. So if I'm outside, I will doff the hat, mask and hornrims to engage -- it works. But indoors, removing just the hat & specs doesn't work. They keep looking at the mask πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Normally, I'd have agreed with your last sentence, but these days -- post-Covid brain rot? -- human contact is no longer normal, or civil. Most folk see my N95 and immediately tune out -- what I say and how I say it is irrelevant, as long as I'm speaking through cloth.

What John said. Actually, most social media is a cesspool these days. I'm so sorry you are a target. There are brown folk on here who say they don't feel safe anymore and plan to emigrate. Heartbreaking. FWIW, I'm old & white and a target as well. Pushy strangers think I should be dead #MAiD

My mother had a 'silent' coronary, largely unnoticed. Years later, she was in hospital isolation after a trip to Mexico -- hep-C was suspected -- but they discovered an amoeba in her bloodstream and scar tissue in the wall of her heart. She had a think on it and recalled a stint of prolonged fatigue

Doctors routinely mocked female patients -- often with no testing or physical examination. But they're =aware= these days, so instead of "It's all in your head", they stifle a snigger and tell us "You're just stressed. You need to relax." 🀬

Indeed. I've noticed the use of present tense in p.r. blurbs for the nuclear industry -- e.g. "spent fuel can be reprocessed" -- uh, no. Spent fuel =could= be reprocessed =if= Canada would get off its collective keester and build a facility.

Open bins of colourful root vegetables stacked along the sidewalk in front of a Kensington Market shop.

A feast for the eyes! Our Kensington Market, here in Trawnah, used to look appetising like this. Alas, no longer. Gentrification and anonymisation are well under way ⬇️ How it used to look...

What Vienna said. I'm old and I recall Civics in late elementary -- with a thick-ish booklet called "How We Are Governed" inclu the citizenship test. Plus, homework to test parents and sibs -- the bro passed, mom passed, dad [who had taken the test for reals in his late teens] flunked. Go figure.

Rest while it's quiet. Heaven knows nobody can actually sleep in hospital -- not in my recent experience. We were the Shared Room Quartet. One who snored, one who moaned and one who tossed & turned, making their bed squeal... and me, wide awake and grinding my teeth.

Dx remained for the next 3 mos, while he did his rehab and waited to see a thoracic specialist. THAT doctor announced that it was 'Post-Covid Sequelae' -- then the patient records were changed. Finally. But this year his slow-growing prostate cancer killed him, accelerated by Covid.

Have things changed? for years we've read/heard about the missing aboriginal girls & women -- what's the total now-? 10,000? Plus the unhoused, even killed while they sleep! And prostitutes -- that never seems to change, not since the days of Jack the Ripper. Evil looks for easy targets, no?
