Right now we're just dealing with "soft bans" (like Amazon's algorithm suppressing sales, and cutting off associate revenue: iheartsapphfic.com/2026/02/17/h...) and deplatforming like Itch-dot-io caving to Stripe. But there's a nationwide book ban bill now in Congress.

🚨 ICE is authorized to covertly infiltrate and interact with social media accounts under a new program called "masked engagement," per documents leaked to me:

Horrifying and unnerving. DHS sent an administrative subpoena to Google for this retiree's records and even sent armed agents out to his house for the "offense" of writing the following completely anodyne email to a federal prosecutor using an email address he found via Google.
Each deal between colleges and the administration is unique, but they have common goals: altering the culture at powerful institutions and making their policies more aligned with President Trump's.
Original post: “hit me with the harshest reality truth” Quote tweet: “the fact that people need a dead man’s files to believe a thousand women… tells you everything about whose voices they don’t.”
All. Of. This.
If you are in Seattle, please go patronize this store because this is amazing content/promo 😂 (laughing to keep from crying, and I do kind of low-key want that orange spider plant I have never seen that before)

So.
You don't know what to do. You are scared, angry, and you can't believe this is happening. You can't believe it might happen to you, to your community.
What do you do now?
A thread.
Masked federal agents removing crates of belongings from the ICE shooter's home
It should be bigger news that masked agents were filmed hours ago removing potentially inculpatory evidence from the ICE shooter's house, clearly lacking evidence tags or chain of custody stickers.
Before we have word on whether he underwent a toxicology screen at the hospital following the killing
A woman recording an ICE agent tells him "Shame on you."
The agent responds, "Have you all not learned from the past couple of days?"
"Learned what?" she asks
Then he knocks her phone out of her hand
they didn’t leak it to make the shooter look innocent, but to make the victim look guilty. not guilty of a crime. guilty of having a visibly queer wife. guilty of liberalism. guilty of opposing the regime. they don’t seek to exonerate themselves, only to demonstrate who deserves to die.
I enjoyed it too & was just thinking how so many people seem mad (my husband included). I like ambiguous endings, & this gave us 3-4 possibilities depending on which we prefer. I think it can be hard to live up to the lore/expectations, but I thought it was good - better than GoT and Lost for sure!
We saw Murray sitting with the science teacher at the graduation, so at least there was that.
"Harvard can't use race as a factor in admissions, but ICE can use race as a factor in detentions" is a retrenchment essentially to a pre-Civil War understanding of the Constitution. It's vanishingly few steps removed from "Latinos have no rights which the white man is bound to respect."
John Oliver fact-checks Kennedy.
PSA- everything coming out of the HHS needs to be fact-checked. Anyone can spout numbers.
Here he goes again, as usual.

PUBLIC HEALTH ORDER NEW MEXICO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SECRETARY GINA DEBLASSIE AUGUST 29, 2025 Ensuring Availability of COVID-19 Vaccine for the 2025-2026 Season
THIS ORDER supersedes any previous order, proclamation, or directives to the extent they are in conflict. This Public Order shall take effect immediately and remain in effect until such time as it automatically expires one year from the date of issuance, or until such time as the New Mexico Department of Health Cabinet Secretary rescinds it.
New Mexico has issued a public health order that removes federal restrictions to COVID-19 vaccine access so that pharmacies in New Mexico can vaccinate people of all ages and risk profiles. Every state need to do this!
How is it not a bigger story that Republicans essentially kidnapped a political opponent who happens to be a Black woman?
This is full-on authoritarianism.

I am a bit of a broken record on this, but are local DAs going to let this continue indefinitely? The ICE agents didn't have any kind of warrant, didn't identify themselves, and then recklessly started firing. Let them argue federal immunity.
2.5 million people is more than a quarter of the population. The equivalent of more than 85 million people protesting on the same day in the United States.
By comparison, an estimated five million people joined USA No Kings Day protests.
Democrats can do something about the Trump regime’s weaponization of federal power. Another government funding deadline is coming up — and Democrats must take a stand by opposing any Republican budget that allows Trump’s chaos and lawlessness to continue unchecked: indivisible.org/campaign/car...
The only thing that will stop Trump is a grassroots movement using diverse tactics.
(not just protests! We need boycotts, strikes, slowdowns, guerrilla art, disruptions, gumming the works from the inside, etc) from a cross-section of society.
It’s on us.
A few skeets here with resources: 1/x
the problem with “norms” is they’re just held together with common sense and a fear of shame. when people have neither, it all collapses.
You know who seizes control of a police department and says “do whatever you want to protesters”? People planning to do things that they know the public will protest.
Pete Hegseth shares a clip saying women shouldn’t have the right to vote, the 19th Amendment should be “repealed,” and women should “submit” to their husbands: “All of Christ for All of Life”
An update from us here at PBS 💙
People in Los Angeles have been protesting 24 hours for 2 weeks straight and no news outlet is covering it!

Comic. PERSON 1 [to person with white hat]: It’s so weird reading these 18th Century scholars argue about minor Biblical details. It’s like they’re an online fandom or something—They’ve developed this whole elaborate canon. [caption] It’s fun when a word’s usage goes full circle and, by analogy, lands back on its original meaning.
