A highlight: we found that mid-pregnancy vitamin D was associated with gene expression in the placenta at delivery, but vitamin D at delivery was not. These findings suggest that mid-pregnancy vitamin D could play a role in programing placental gene expression. #DOHAD

I am delighted to share the first paper to come out of my postdoc analyzing prenatal vitamin D levels measured at mid-pregnancy and delivery and their association with transcriptome-wide placental gene expression

New Paper- We compared the transcriptome of bulk placental tissue from two ECHO cohorts to publicly available data from common in vitro placental models to see which experimental models most closely approximated the bulk tissue transcriptome.

Now, I'm a a conference and there's new results showing that pregnancy symptoms like persistent nausea are associated with changes in diet patterns. Definitely an area that calls for more studies! 3/3

To look at wacky cravings, you would probably need to look at longer term food diaries to understand everything someone ate over time. Cravings are real, but the wackiness is something that would need to be defined, which is an interesting question getting into what is normal or wacky culturally 2/3

Great question! Diet data can be collected in a few ways. I'm interested in patterns of intake, like if someone is getting enough nutrients, so I use data mainly from food frequency questionnaires (FFQ) asking about how often someone eats a specific food over time. 1/3
