IMO this should be viewed as conditioning us to accept whatever big money/oligarchs/capital want. The answer? The future isn't yours to decide.
Graft on a level we've never seen in this country. Another "first" for Trump that comes at our expense, literal and political.
“To say that President Trump is corrupt is to somehow understate the size, scope and magnitude of his corruption.
It is as if you were to describe a modern thermonuclear device as a ‘bomb.’ That is true enough, but it is not quite the truth. It does not capture the nature of the thing in full.”
I can't recall the last time I agreed wholeheartedly with any NYT opinion piece. This may be the first. Thanks!
Valuable background. Still, why would anyone think Altman or anyone driven by the desire for power and profit could be trusted to decide our fate?

Agree! I'd put it this way: We need to see capitalism's limitations and take them on. Now. And I think having unions see that and act accordingly is essential.
Since it's unethical to say trans kids should be punished to protect family values but prowl for threesomes, I think @moms4liberty.bsky.social are the real pioneers!www.advocate.com/politics/zieglers-sex-li...
Let's do it!
True. Also worth considering: Sixteen Democrats voted to approve Chavez: www.asppa-net.org/news/2025/3/...
Lots to think about in this analysis. Not persuaded tho capital is ready for a progressive period. What I'm seeing in the unrelenting push for AI and the profits expected from it is, at best, a repeat on steroids, of the original neoliberal project. Your thoughts?

What makes this all the more reprehensible is many people on SNAP can't earn enough, even working two jobs, to feed their families. So although we subsidize profits for rapacious corporations with SNAP, titans of capital wanted to show their control and make working people suffer. Sadism.
We should name this policy as normalizing malnutrition for people who are considered disposable.
Agree. Yet if they hadn't caved there might well have been more public understanding of the threat. Most people, even those pretty well-informed, didn't see where it would lead.
Very true. Also true: too many write in language that is a barrier, which I get because we're grappling with complex concepts, but then don't write anything that is accessible. Of course, once it's read widely, it's distorted and attacked!
It kills me Seidman's valuable research and writing are so under-utilized! We need a movement influencer to popularize it.
31 years ago, the largest act of right-wing terrorism shocked the nation. And yet, when a follow-up study suggested that maybe the government should do more to thwart right-wing radicalization, the GOP lost their f-ing minds, forcing the AG to retract it. #OKCbombing

Not just the GOP who are responsible here. The Dems didn't fight about it.
Quite likely. Question is how we understand this and not become so cynical we can't be enraged and use that to fight.
"Experts" can help their work to be used by suggesting wording that conveys the concepts. To me, that's a win-win.
Fits though. Poor taste. Prego isn't as good as Chef Boyardee.
This legal victories are important. Let's savor them while keeping in mind enforcing them depends on our strength, in the streets, and willingness to transgress their rules of engagement.
Info from legacy media bout CPS closing schools May Day is misleading. We need to speak truth - all of it - about this moment. @ctulocal1.bsky.social has raised the bar for every union in this country to make their rhetoric about saving democracy real: futureschools.substack.com/p/may-day-20...
A huge trove of empirical data and close analysis about how the Democratic Party functions. Trigger warning: If you're sure we'll win social justice, economic gains by reforming the Dems, this will be tough to read. Kim Moody, writing in @newpolitics.bsky.social : newpol.org/issue_post/d...
