But I can also imagine this is related to standardized tests. Kids need to learn to extract from a couple paragraphs at a time to Dow ell on those so classes geared toward that

My daughter goes to a Catholic school and she is the only one who reads for fun. In the English literature class they are spending their class time listening to Oliver Twist because the teacher knows they won’t read anything as an assignment
They know what they mean when they talk about remigration, and it’s the same thing we think they mean bsky.app/profile/rtod...
I’m trying to look for the lie in that post
Tim Cook maximized shareholder value by managing Donald Trump's ego as well as any world leader
1/ @yonahfreemark.com wrote an interesting piece about how to improve public engagment in the US, which he correctly notes is relevant not just to transportation projects, but also housing and climate. @thefoxandthecity.com has a good thread about it below. As a former pollster, I have thoughts!

The AI bubble is like the dotcom bubble: It’s not that the Internet was some useless passing fad; it’s that a lot of money got poured into absolute horseshit before people started figuring out where the actual value was.
I feel like B2B is fundamentally different. There’s more conservatism and expectation of service levels
Yes, this could happen, I prefer to think of that as the model owners entering each of those businesses. Which might happen!
It will likely not be IT departments saying “hey, let’s figure out how to get rid of this Salesforce contract en masse. (Though some will!)
Ability to speak to a customer’s problems is frankly a requirement to even get consideration as a potential solution.

I think ~”you can become a successful entrepreneur based on thin wrappers around Claude”~ would be an excellent way to state my position. We had a lot of it based on thin wrappers around spreadsheets!
Salesforce totally qualifies. Any ERPs. ADP
There are schools that use classroom management systems that are slower and less functional than spreadsheets that they already have. There’s still a desire for purpose-built branding and ability to talk to a customer’s problems even if you’re taking away functionality from them
I have to admit I don’t know how Squarespace is a thing even before LLMs.
Generally speaking though, I think companies in particular will want to buy from companies that sell into a particular solution space over trying to do it themselves. Prices might collapse due to lower exit costs though
I would definitely take the other side of that bet!
Avocado toast is $25 at the Newark airport. How are working class Americans expected to survive like this?
Introverts exist and no one is obligated to give anyone else their time, sure, sure.
Still, how healthy is it spending so much time at least pretending being talked to in any context is a form of assault? What are we stewing our brains here about how we should expect interactions to go out there?
A lot of “joke” viral tweets are about how the author was confronted with talking to someone when they didn’t want to. E.g. got a phone call instead of a text.
This is unsurprising on the text-based social network, but if you *never* want to talk to anyone you have a problem! 1/2
You literally have industrial fishing equipment. These sea lions caught these fish in a cave with a box of scraps!!
He hasn’t been ostracized because this is just how a lot of people feel now. If enough people think a thing it becomes normal

It’s Britain. They use horses there
Pete’s problem is that there’s a whole bunch of people who react to him with incandescent rage. I don’t really know how he can overcome that realistically. It’s a pretty big problem!

In 1924 the Democrats ran a segregationist (John W Davis) for President.
