I don’t think ppl understand the whole “who cares if nobody likes it! make content for yourself” is extremely dismissive
Bc we ARE making the content for ourselves but it feels /bad/ when people don’t engage or show interest. You can care about both at the same time

To add on to this, drawing your own content, especially something time consuming like a webcomic, is often a time and money investment that you need others to care about otherwise you can't justify the hours per week.

I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.

Hard agree with this. People start to automatically think something is wrong if we're not posting art every single day and then ask why. You've rarely felt that type of pressure to perform well on actual gallery sites
