The reason everything is about to get a lot more expensive is not the Irish government. There is a dementia-addled megalomaniac in the White House who never gets told no, and he started a pointless war. Until he’s gone, yell at the government all you want but the situation will not improve.

Ireland’s fuel duty is high, and as an emergency measure the government should remove it (they would be insane not to). HOWEVER - the rising cost of fuel in general is not their fault. Fine Gael and Fine Fáil can be rightfully blamed for so much wrong with the country, but not this.

People are right to be upset about fuel costs, especially in a country as car-dependent as Ireland. It makes sense to want to protest about it. But, and I absolutely HATE having to defend them, maybe give the Irish government a fucking minute to respond before taking to the streets?

I hate being correct in this sense but basic pattern recognition seems to be in short supply. People I normally agree with are supporting this movement. Let’s employ some critical thought for like five minutes

That’s so nice 😭😭 Ryanair could never. I might just start flying Aer Lingus again even if it’s slightly more expensive. They give free orange juice, tea, coffee, sometimes they even thrown in a little chicken wrap for a snack. So much more dignified

If I wanted a carton of cigarettes or perfume I would buy one. The desperation is so off putting. I wanted a coffee but didn’t buy one out of pure spite.
