Thanks! To you too!
It’s crazy to see the page and see so many incredible games by incredible people! Makes me wanna go play all of the ones I haven’t gotten to the table yet.
Vesta Mandate has been nominated for an Indie Groundbreaker award for Best Setting!
It’s so cool to see an aspect that @ryanzenith.bsky.social and I spent so long agonizing over get highlighted. And it’s amazing to be in the company of such incredible games.

A photo of the L train zipping by on Cinestill 800t with a Hasselblad 500c film camera.
One of the most iconic bits of Chicago. And a top #photo for me.
Late night shots with Cinestill are fun but this photo really nails so many elements. The colors, the halations, the blur and the streetlight illuminating the side of the elevated train tracks.
Also just as an addendum here, I’m endlessly floored by how incredible @jessebmiller.bsky.social, @ryanzenith.bsky.social, @collinjryan.bsky.social and Kat are to sit down at a table with and play tabletop games.
Jesse did such a good job Gming and I can’t wait for season 2!
If I had to guess I’d say our playbooks drove our play. The Chopper did the most fighting. Once they were gone so much of our conflict was interpersonal and emotional OR supernatural with the psychic maelstrom.
I would be curious to hear your thoughts @lumpley.bsky.social and @megueyb.bsky.social
I would be curious to hear how this has played out in other people’s games. Did you actively engage with the combat moves, harm and all of those systems a lot in your play? Was it cause the playbooks you had drove that?
We had a Maestro’D, Hocus, Hardholder and a Chopper who became a Savvyhead.
Instead, a huge amount of our conflict came through the psychic maelstrom, interpersonal conflicts and moments where the narrative demanded resolutions that weren’t harm.
It also built one of the most cohesive, compelling narratives that any of us have played in a tabletop campaign.
We wrapped up our first season of our Apocalypse world game, gmed by @jessebmiller.bsky.social today. While grabbing dinner after, we were musing about the fact that our game largely didn’t engage with combat or (physical) harm.
We all knew that Austin Walker was articulate, but damn, he and Sam Dunnewold uncorked it on S8 E8 of Dice Exploder talking about Dream Askew/Dream Apart.

Something I did a while back (I think I stole it from @collinjryan.bsky.social) was turn off ALL notification sounds and vibration on my phone.
I HATED being in the zone on something and getting buzzed/rang out of it. It’s so much better to have it be a choice when I engage with notifications.

christina koch talking on stage with a mic
Christina Koch: So several years ago, I was giving a speech about crew and crewmates and teamwork. And someone asked, what makes a crew? What is different about a crew than a team?
And I was like, I got this - open my mouth confidently to tell them everything I knew about being a crewmate
Is anyone aware of any depth crawl game that uses d66 tables where the first d6 is either replaced by depth or augmented by it? This came up in the episode of Gamestorm thats coming out this next Monday and I don't think I've seen it in a depth crawl that I am aware of!
Being reminded of this game was a blast from the past. I remember playing it a lot as a kid.

Go check out this article I wrote! And checkout the @aavoigt.bsky.social video that inspired me trying the game in the first place!
Cover of a small board game. The main image is 3 girls in fancy dresses having tea. Around them are smaller domestic scenes. The title is written in 4 languages: The diligent girl as lady of the house = La ragazza diligente come patrona di cassa = Das fleissige Mädchen als Hausfrau = La fille appliquée comme maîtrise de la maison
A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of going through some of the boardgames in the Library of Congress collection. We found a game not in @boardgamegeek.com: The Diligent Girl as Lady of the House. More below, but: Can anyone help me figure out the publisher? Can't make a BGG entry without one! 1/
Over 30k people have watched ep 1 and over half watched ep 2. We are streaming ep 52 tonight. Forbidden Lands is the longest-running and most popular play on the channel for a reason. Good game meets great table. Forbidden Lands Actual Play

Damn, that third one is so incredibly cool

Spring is springing
Ooooh yeah! Always looking for more people interested in coming on!
I’m honored to say this designer, Erica Bridges, is part of the Chicago playtest cohort I organize, and she literally can’t stop making some of the smartest games I’ve ever read and played. Don’t miss Nostos.
Throwing down some lines and ink. I've really missed doing fantasy stuff. Its nice bouncing between genres so much lately.
These look incredible!
15 cover mock-ups
Those of you who have been following me for a long while might remember a cool game jam I hosted 4-5 years ago where I designed a bunch of evocative cover mock-ups for people to make ttrpgs or larps based off! Well, it's back! #ttrpg #mockcoverjam itch.io/jam/mock-cov...
