Do you learn by doing? @ies-sas.bsky.social has a new summer school course that explores medieval manuscripts by making them. You’ll learn how inks and pigments were made and used and get to experiment for yourself! 📖📚🎨 @ies-sas.bsky.social book 👇 ies.sas.ac.uk/london-rare-...

Huge shelves with books behind a glass wall
Intrigued by the People’s Bookshelf at the National Library of Latvia. Each book in the collection has been donated by a member of the public and is inscribed by its former owner, telling a personal story relating to the book.

Introductions: I’m a book historian in love with medieval manuscripts. Sharing research updates, manuscript news, images, and random findings from digitized manuscripts. Occasional blogger. Left Twitter for Mastodon, but you #medievalsky folks are all here, so here it is! (Pic: Bod CanClassLat257)
Interesting book commissioned by Lowys Porquin, a merchant from Antwerp. It was published in Antwerp in 1563 and includes a bio of his family and advice for his 11 children. Royal Library Brussels #earlymodern #books
Ik kom tegenwoordig veel Leids materiaal tegen dat digitaal beschikbaar is, maar niet op jullie lijst staat. Op den duur is het tempo van digitalisering moeilijk bij te houden, vrees ik…
