Day 12 - A popular book you hated. The Alchemist. I hated it. I just wanted it to end. I know I’m in the minority. Everyone loved it and said it was life changing. #books #booksky #bookchallenge

Day 8 - Favorite Book to Give as a Gift. My kids loved this book so much, especially my youngest. He would rhyme that last word on every page as a 1.5-2 year old. I buy it as the “card” for every baby shower I attend. #books #booksky #bookchallenge

Day 7 - Best Audiobook for a Road Trip - we listened to this while driving out west between national parks. Arizona to Utah. It felt like we were on Mars with all the red rock (we are from Ohio, so the landscape was foreign to us). It was fun for us and our kids. #booksky #bookchallenge #scifi

I loved Of Mice and Men. I did not enjoy East of Eden. I plan to read The Grapes of Wrath this year as well.

While Skloot isn’t African American, I highly suggest The Invisible Life of Henrietta Lacks. It is nonfiction, related to science and medicine, and features a woman of color at the center of the story.
