Anyway, I am acutely aware of how cringe this is, but honestly, I am just so tired of insincerity, and veneers, and curated words, and fake... I have always been and will always be honest, and man we really gotta shed that Xennial beef with earnestness man. We done fucked this shit up.
It's hard when you've been the child of an addict - especially when your parent has died from it - and actually needing pain relief. I am so immensely grateful that, despite shortened lifespan etc, I can function. I have access. But man... I hate these fucking patches. Anyway.
I get introspective when I am in pain too, and so it's always a good time to write... and I have done that. The discipline part is still being worked on, but one day I will sort through the some 7 million words that are good but not great. One day!
Yes I am up reading Reddit because every 6 months I decide "hey, maybe I don't have pain anymore and don't need this patch" and so I see how long I can go and all the pain hits me like a wave, and I cry, and I put it back on. It fucking sucks, but I'm grateful it can be managed.
I dunno, anyway, it's just funny how he is kinda like a Muse. Just unlocks something that gets me thinking and introspecting in a certain way. I can't explain it. It feels fucking creepy tbh but then I see others are like that and it's cool.

Anyway, I am not much of a Reddit poster and most of my energy has gone into more disciplined writing, but waiting until stuff is more complete than my usual just letting words pour out ...and living in a pile of excellent, but still only good first drafts that never get to be great.
Anyway, I landed on r/benfolds where some fans were sharing about @actualbenfolds.bsky.social - and it really is very cool to see new generations of suspected but probable autists discovering him and finding comfort. It really is a gift, that.
I find parasocial shit weird, but it's just cool.
I've been creatively stuck for a while because all my energy was being eaten by my buprenorphine patch and sheer career change exhaustion, but I landed on Reddit at 4am (because, yesterday, I ripped off my patch in my sleep and thought 'maybe I don't need it'. I need it. It's back. OMG. I need it.)
If you want to create a movement, you need to a) want more people in and b) appeal to the public.
Doctorow brought complex problems that LED US HERE into the zeitgeist. If not for that, we'd be 15 years behind rather than 10 on regulation/public understanding.

lol sorry, I just have such immense gratitude for Cory Doctorow's work and what he did for digital rights in terms of getting people to understand how UX is political/should be regulated.
I am forever in his debt. And yeah, a bit jealous. But I'm an adult.
I wasn't starting anything, but it boils my piss. Not an ounce of street cred among them, letting those who do sit in shit for doing the hard work, whilst they write about how everyone else is doing it wrong & take the credit.
