Make it a zoom-through state with fast trains! Yes, please. 😂
(And give the Moda people nothing. So nuts to consider giving so much public money to that project.)

Lots of folks giving good advice! Something that was hard (and sometimes scary) with my mom is she would forget that she couldn’t walk safely unsupported. She would get mad at us for fretting, but she was at risk of breaking bones. Bed alarms are helpful for when they try to get up by themselves.

I have little tolerance for polite harm. Even less tolerance for their shock when describing that harm in plain, realistic terms. When you refuse to use the code, it really sends the “nice” crowd over the edge.

Grateful for the good judges helping to reverse this administration’s damage and cruelty, and proud that Oregon has led the charge. 🏳️‍⚧️

I feel a little bad for laughing at this. But not very bad. 😂

Bull sharks make ‘friends’—and prefer females to males The ocean’s bad boys don’t just cruise alone—they have preferred swimming partners.

Couldn’t help thinking of Finding Nemo - “Fish are friends, not food!” 😄🦈

Religious orgs are exempt from Title III of the ADA, so yes, your church can bar service animals. They would still be jerks for doing that, but it’s legal. Non-religious orgs that rent religious spaces are NOT exempt, though. If you’re renting church-owned property, check before signing a contract!

It is a great failing that our school systems do not require learning about how to include people with disabilities, that many disabilities are invisible, about service dog etiquette, and about the ADA. Especially since almost everyone will end up with a disability of some kind, someday! ♿️

I inquired about availability for lodging for a public festival that has music lessons/workshops. The response: “I’ll have to see if your service dog is allowed.”
So much fun to have to constantly educate people about my right to exist with a disability and our right to equal public access. 🙄

Do you have thoughts on the proposed bottle drop at Milwaukie and Powell? I am very worried about safety (traffic, train, transit, pedestrian) on that corner, especially for the canners and the increase in car and pedestrian traffic on a crash corridor next to residential areas and train tracks.

I live near several major streets that are already noisy and polluting - we already have horrible traffic, so let’s get transit done before removing major thoroughfares? And for district 3 specifically - how do we help the Brooklyn neighborhood connectivity and make 99 and Powell better/safer?

Staged picture of our bathroom taken before we first moved in. Pedestal sink, a small round mirror, cream colored walls, plumbing fixtures that didn’t work particularly well, and no storage or counter space whatsoever. Not seen in the picture - the ceiling light fixture that was ungrounded, outdated, and not damp rated. The mirror shows orangey red walls reflected in the adjoining room (we ended up repainting those to a more soothing color, too).

Updated bathroom with navy blue cabinetry, a white quartz countertop, lighted mirror, and wallpaper on the accent wall. There is a white shower curtain and bath mat, and a new gold finish ceiling light fixture.

Here’s a before and after for our bathroom, with all planning and labor done by yours truly (with help from the guys for moving heavy things and holding me steady when needed).❤️❤️
So nice to have real storage and a countertop now, for material costs only. And it’s all leak-free, leveled, and sealed.🔧

I’ve been caring for myself and my family and restructuring my life a bit, and while it was a bit scary to leave my 9 to 5 behind, I am already seeing how much this was needed. And I have some limited-scope grants/data consulting contracts lined up already for this summer, which is a huge relief. 😮‍💨🎉

After doing nothing but writing/working and crashing for so long, finally having space to rest and to do things with my hands and my creative brain has been amazing. It has also reminded me of everything I can still do with my disability with minor adjustments, which has been incredibly satisfying.

Things I’ve accomplished the last couple of weeks: wrote some chapters for my book, installed new garden raised beds, installed a new bathroom vanity, countertop, sink, and light fixture, finished our catio, and rearranged the basement to make an office and maker space/workshop. It has felt so good.

Just finished When Trees Testify by @berondam.bsky.social -grateful for this book that ties together Black history and trauma, a sense of Black belonging in nature and science, and Black wisdom, power, and joy. I will be imagining our collective breath being taken up by trees from now on. 🌳💕

Yes. As someone with a service dog, it also puts me in danger because those dogs are rarely trained well, and my dog might miss a medical episode because of distractions. (Yes, he is trained to ignore other dogs, but that focus is unfair to expect when the other dog is lunging and barking.)

Be very careful handling euphorbia of any kind with bare hands. The sap is toxic and can cause severe eye injury or even blindness if it gets in your eyes. (And a rash and/or blisters on your skin, too… but thought I’d lead with the scary eye risk!)

I see it as a sign of progress that trans folk are seen as such a threat, and also a sign that everyone needs to step up for trans folk because not doing so is bad not only for trans people, but also for cis women and for everyone who is different in any way whatsoever. We are in this together. 💕

It was such a gorgeous day to take a walk around the neighborhood! 🌸🌷🌼🪻
Cherry blossoms, tulips, daffodils… and the perfect temperature. Sprocket the #ServiceDog was so happy today, was polite even when barked at by other dogs (he was rewarded with treats), and got some great sniffing time in. 🐕‍🦺💕

I guess I don’t think of “buy cheap ones and hope they like where I plant them” as being particularly artful.😂
We afford our home because we share costs among 3 of us. And spring blooms make me happy. There have been years that have been super hard, but daffodils persist and remind me of hope/joy.💕

I always buy big mystery mixes of daffodil and tulip and hyacinth bulbs from mail order places. And definitely not every year; I try to find ones that will return each year. Even better if I can get them to multiply naturally (most do). I spend less than $100 for 200 bulbs and propagate…? 🤷‍♀️🤔
