he’s pretty incredible. he was also amazing in May December. he was easily the best thing about that film.

one thing about me, i don’t care if you’re a nepo baby if you poppin’. sadie did a fine job.
hold up. Sadie Sandler not only starred in this but sang this very good end credits song??? Adam and Jackie Sandler raised a multihyphenate.
not the final cameo in this film making me tear up during the credits.
this was much better than i expected it to be and the soundtrack kinda ate, too.
omg, shout-out to steve buscemi. a true happy madison productions icon.
this film nods to ’90s/‘00s adam sandler films but in a subtle way that doesn’t irritate me. also: his daughter inherited the best of his habits as a performer and, at least in this role, none other over-the-top ones.
second: as films in the teen/college coming-of-age romcom genre go, this one takes its characters and story seriously. it has more serious stakes and more authentic tension than other films like it.
I’m watching “roommates” on netflix, btw. I have a few observations, but the most prominent of which is that 10 years ago, this would’ve gotten a theatrical release.
i like when natasha lyonne doesn’t lean super-hard into her schtick.
i dig her schtick, but it’s nice to see her do other things again.
it is a huge barrier; i totally understand. 😩
definitely meant the acting. 😩
elisabeth moss is really exceptional at what she does.
some singers turned actors act best through song and should absolutely be cast primarily in musicals (jhud). others are strong in both genres and can carry a performance where there’s no singing at all (whitney).
based on early reviews, i’m quietly wondering if chloe might’ve been the Bailey sister that should’ve been cast in that romcom… she’s older and she reads older. plus her performances have a bit more nuance… i do love that they’re both committed to acting, though.
this goes way harder than we deserve in 2026, but it’s exactly what we need music.apple.com/us/album/g-o...
💞
i don't think it would deviate much from this original script at all.
i love that he tried calling to apologize a bunch of times. she lowkey owed him an apology, too, though. idk.
"... is one of us supposed to be a *dog* in this scenario???"
listen, the writing was writing and the acting was acting because i am so uncomfortable right now.
ugh, we're at the hookup part. which provides more evidence that she liked him the whole time. she was hoping this would happen.
omg, i love the exaggerated crying that happens in romcoms.
"all this time, i've been saying, he didn't want to get married. but the truth is: he didn't wanna marry me." 😩
rob reiner was such a good filmmaker. and so was penny marshall. and i like that they were married for a little bit. and i get why they didn't stay married and just... God rest both of their souls, fr.
they just had that fight where he immediately apologizes and hugs her. they are so cute and so mildly problematic.
i just looked up her filmography and you know what? it's probably still french kiss. lol.
"i also wrote pesto is the quiche of the '80s." ay, yo... lol
oh, no! he just shaved it. do not like! do not approve!
other hot takes? most of the characters meg plays are karens, sorry to say. sally is definitely one.
and harry just told a racist joke, so... they do deserve each other.
the beard was everything.
that was my absolute favorite meg ryan romcom for many years. i found a pirated copy online like last year or the year before and streamed it to see if it held up. i didn't love it *as much* in my 40s? but it's still pretty good. and she *does* do the nose thing a ton in that film! lol
