The President of the United States this week has:

- Restored the name of Robert E. Lee to a U.S. military base (Lee fought against the U.S. military)

-Deployed Marines to an American city.

- Shipped military equipment to Washington D.C. for a military “parade.”

That's good optics.

Right now there are more U.S. troops deployed to Los Angeles than there are to Syria and Iraq combined.

Why Los Angeles protesters fly the Mexican flag Southern California demonstrators are continuing the long tradition of hoisting the red, white and green flag during times of anti-immigrant sentiment.

Originally against Mexican flags at these events because of the optics, this article helped me to understand how personal it is.

My 2 cents: There also needs to be US flags there or it's too easy for the Right-stremists to hijack the narrative.

So bummed about the entire situation, but glad to read the views in this article. I do not know any other veterans that feel active duty military (Marines in this case) should be used in this way. National Guard does this if/when called upon by a Governor.

In this video I compare footage from last night's episode of "Hannity" where he included a live feed from the protests in Los Angeles to archived footage from the January 6th riots. It's pretty clear the two events are not at all alike.

I could be wrong, but I think this photo is not very recent. That looks like from when I was still in the Army, circa the eightees, nineties, or early 2000s. Uniforms, boots, equipment all looks vintage.

One thing Newsom has shown is key to effectively deal with Trump & the MAGA propaganda machine: You must respond immediately & call out the lies. You can’t wait until hours/days later, then answer in a press conference, statement, scripted speech. All Dems should learn from it.
